...with that. Happens with automobiles too! Fabricate something out of acrylic or polycarbonate. I blew out a side vent window. Went thru the bus glass and hole drilling. Ordered tempered drilled glass. 6 pieces to keep average piece price down and have spares. I went with plastic for side...

    Sailfish 255 Vent Window Wanted

There are a number of posts on GG on the vent window. I did what Legend did. Tempered glass. Makes sense to order a few - have a spare and each piece is less.

    Replacing a Marlin Vent Window

...acrylic or polycarbonate but they will deteriorate after a few years. Cheap easy replacement though. School bus glass (factory) is not tempered. GW drilled a hole near the edge - most glass shops don't want to do that that close to the edge. Tempered - which I did - has to be sent out. It's a...

    vent window repair

My originals cracked and had the laminate in between. Local glass guy had the material but wouldn't drill the hole because it was too close to the edge. I see another thread going where his window did explode into a billion pieces. That one is clearly tempered.

    Can't find a source. I'm at a roadblock.

Original windows are "school bus glass". Regular glass (not tempered) with plastic sheet in-between. Difficult to drill the hole for the pull so close to the edge. Acrylic (best choice) or Lexan polycarbonate is easy/cheap way to go. Use black silicone or maybe black 5200. Tempering results in...

You may be able to get the aluminum hinge material from Marine Specialty Glass in FL. The glass is a bigger problem. The shops don’t like drilling the hole in “school bus glass”. Lee an is ok. I had several tempered glass replacements made a few years ago.

    Vent Window

...may have some or know where to get it. GW used a type of glass the industry calls "school bus glass". It is not tempered. My local guys did not like drilling the hole so close to the edge.Maybe it could be drilled in the middle of a sheet before cutting. Tempered glass is a better choice...

    Side window replacement

...regular glass. They can cut the glass but the screw hole is close to the edge and drilling it can break the glass. I went ahead and ordered tempered glass from a shop in Washington State - several pieces since the setup was expensive - might as well order a few more for spares. You could use...

Sailfish front windows: glass or plastic?

...Glass Specialties in Florida http://www.marineglassspecialties.com My front windows are glass. It is know as "school bus glass", a non-tempered glass lamination with plastic inside. A good glass shop should be able to cut them for you. For plastic acrylic is the clearest compared to Lexan...
