Best Marine Insurance rates (I could find)....NBOA

I've also got USAA coverage and am pleased with the rates. Luckily I've never had a claim on the boat but would expect great service from USAA as we've had with cars & home. :D

    Cleaning Vinyl

I would be really careful with a liquid bleach but have cleaned with the Mr. Clean Eraser sponges (which have bleach). Just make sure you rinse it really well.

old screws in transom filll holes or put back in?

If it was just a small screw hole I would have probably filled with Marine-Tex. I think the wooden dowel for larger holes is a great idea. With the dowel you just need to make sure that it's waterproof.

    Skin on or off

Skin on. After cooking on the grill just slide the meat off with a spatula. The skin holds the meat together better than if it's removed.

    Changing Water Pump on F225

Re: Water Pump The tricky one is under the rubber cap and holds the zinc anode. I agree that anyone with moderate mechanical skills can do this project.

    propeller spins while in neutral

Blues, Congratulations on your new Grady. To have the prop spin slowly when in neutral (especially when flushing with muffs) is totally normal.

    Anyone relocate washdown pump?????

The port side battery is to the left of the oil tank. You can just see the edge of the battery in the photo. The starboard battery is located almost directly under the seat access.

    Wilmington NC to Charleston SC

If you're plannig on staying close to a marina, you might check with City Marina. They have a shuttle that will take you around the downtown Charleston area. The Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina at Patriot's Point has a hotel at the facility. Not sure if they have shuttle but taxis are...

    Anyone relocate washdown pump?????

Here are photos of my washdown pump. The hose on the left side of the pump is coming from the raw water pickup and the hose on the right side of the pump goes to the fitting where your coiled hose is connected. Hope this helps.

    Drystack vs. Jet Dock

I'm looking for opinions....drystack vs. jetdock storage for my 228. Actual pros and cons would be appreciated. Could save a substanial amount per year on boat storage if I switched. I would like some actual "real-world" comparisons. Thanks so much.

    Rub Rail Help

What grit paper do you use? I would think that it would have to be extremely fine (800-1000). I've never used 303 protectant, only the 303 fabric waterproofing spray on my canvas. If the protectant works anything like the waterproofer then I'm sold.

How soon until you're back in?

Miker, You got your wish..... Spent the day at horse trials, highs mid to upper 70s and I am really sunburned. That skin sure has tendered up over the winter...

    2000 yamaha 225

You need to give it some persuasion with a rubber mallet. Does it lower at all when all the bolts are removed? Enough banging should eventually get it off. Make sure that you grease up the holes before reinserting the bolts. You'll thank yourself next time you have to remove the lower unit.

    bow eye and cleat ??

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking but I'll give a shot at the answer :) . The bow eye should be almost like a U-bolt that goes through the hull into your anchor locker. I wouldn't think replacing that would be too difficult unless the sealant gives you fits. The cleat might be a...

How soon until you're back in?

That wouldn't be too bad after the winter that we've had. We should have mid 70s this weekend which we haven't had for some time.

How soon until you're back in?

I know that I'm excluded from the conversation (being a Southern boy) but I did enjoy a very nice sunset cruise this evening. Sorry, I really don't mean to rub it in. :D
