    Sunglasses

I'm a Maui Jim fan personally. I have prescription Peahi with gray lenses that have worked well for me. I started out with Costas but switched when I tried on a pair of Maui's,, never went back to Costas.

Looking to outfit 21' walk around ( a 218 Adventure) with electronics

Running Simrad on my 228, been happy with it. Have the Halo 24 radar also, no issues. It's mounted on a Battlewagon pedestal with 4° down angle, no problem spotting targets.

    Changing things up a little.

I think he's on a different level than me. Can't compete. The dual fake hood scoops and wing on back of the cab really sets it off nicely.

    Changing things up a little.

I'll settle with a kinda cool kid then. I didn't want a white motor actually. The Yamaha blue goes with the Grady-White gunmetal blue in the logo, just needed the chrome letters on the motor. Here's the finished pics.

    Changing things up a little.

Must be age or a touch of redneck or both, but I've always liked the new Yamaha's with the chrome letters. Only way to get that from factory is with the electronic steering, which I don't have. I had my dealer order all the chrome pieces and I'm changing over myself. Should go well with my new...

    Trailer tires?

My tow is 17 hours and 1,121 miles, one way. I wanted the best tires I could get, that's why I went with the Goodyear Endurance

How far out in the ocean would you travel from land?

You can always buddy boat with a friend and venture further out each time. That way you have a backup boat. As long as you know your boat and feel it's running top notch, no reason to fret. If you're not sure of it, then you're not ready to go. Again, EPIRB, handheld VHF, life jackets,,, plan...

Purchasing from someone on this site

Google Earth his address. I've seen empty lots at supposed businesses.

Purchasing from someone on this site

Has said vendor/person been vetted? Is he a real person and not a scam? You need to do due diligence to ensure they are legit. Nowadays scammers are everywhere.

How far out in the ocean would you travel from land?

As long as you have the appropriate gear, EPIRB and such,,, get out there and enjoy life. I take my 228 out further than that in the Keys, but I do have all necessary gear to do it.

    Lower unit oils

That tells me the lower or both washers were bad or not tight. If lower was bad, still wouldn't leak out because of suction, no way for air to get in unless it's a combination of factors,,, bad/no washers, drain screws loose, seals bad,, all contributing factors to "completely dry". Along with...

    Lower unit oils

Did you change it or did a service facility change it? Should never "just" leak out. Replace washers on LU screws? Forget the bottom washer? If seals were bad, you would have water inside instead of "completely dry". If you changed it, did you forget to refill it, it could happen. I change mine...

    Dock box mounting options

The octagonal landing would be my choice. Either replace bench on left and sit on dock box or place it to the right as you come down steps.

    Repower Options: Seafarer 228G

Don't let them talk you out of the FBW. It's fantastic. I didn't go electronic steering, kept it SeaStar hydraulic. Maybe he's sitting on a mechanical F250 and wants to off load it onto you. I questioned the FBW throttle/shift longevity with my dealer in Charleston before I ordered mine and...

    Repower Options: Seafarer 228G

Biggest question I would have is, do you plan to keep your boat at least 3-5 more years or do you have the itch to go newer? If you're going to keep it, then consider new motor in the 250 range. Grady's are fairly heavy for their size and more HP is always a good thing. Don't have to use it all...

Wise Coaming Bolster Pad - GW - 228

The vinyl has worn out or the backing? I had A&J replace my vinyl a couple of years ago and it turned out just like factory.
