What kind of hours do you rack-up?

If that were the case, I have 30 hours on engines, at least 100 hours on the water, and another 30+ in the garage!

What kind of hours do you rack-up?

I do as well. I just don't get those opportunities often enough in part due to weather. 50 mile trip was amazing conditions. 34 mile trip was rough as @#$&!

What kind of hours do you rack-up?

I appreciate the total numbers, but I'm wondering things like: - long cruise runs - long no wake/idle zones - extended trolling - some have mentioned engine idling for charging This year I probably had more cruise hours between 25-38 mph than in years past. I think my moving average this year...

What kind of hours do you rack-up?

There are plenty of days where we only head out to behind the break wall or go to a cove. 30-40 minutes round trip. Even with fishing trips, I rarely have to go more than 5 miles off shore. I guess I'm spoiled. Lots of good spots close to home.

What kind of hours do you rack-up?

I had a lot of that this year! Normal I fish cruise 50/50. This year was 100% cruise because I didn't want to get out of bed. Thought it was age. Turns out it was medically related. Hopefully next year will be different.

What kind of hours do you rack-up?

So how are you racking up 2x the hours only going out ½ as much as I do?

What kind of hours do you rack-up?

I would consider my boat use for this neck of the woods higher than average. I usually get out 20-30 times a season, yet I'm only putting on a out 30 hours a year on engines. Since I trailer, I don't generally need to make long runs. Typically 20 miles or less round trip. Occasionally 50...

    Yamaha F-150 lower unit

Considering what a trip to Florida costs, I think the piece of mind is worth not wondering if your counter will go kaput. I'm hoping I can keep my transom off the rebuild list. Knowing how the older ones are built, water kept boats will be tougher to keep off that list.

That stinks. I searched THT for you too. Nothing there.

    Yamaha F-150 lower unit

I didn't realize how cheap the SEIs are. I'd be willing to take my chances at that price point for my needs.

    Yamaha F-150 lower unit

You are now experiencing what I did before I bought new df200s. While my low hour f150s could have gone another thousand hours, I could have had issues on the next trip. For people like me who have to justify $ spent, it only made sense to spend a bunch of money because I don't have to time or...

    Yamaha F-150 lower unit

I know it isn't the question you asked, but how badly bent is it? Is it worth trying to straighten in place? If it doesn't take a lot to straighten, I would rather take my chances in a straightened shaft than an aftermarket LU.

    Boat Slips Backwards

What matters is that your D ring is slightly below the bow roller of the winch stand when the boat is in the desired position on the trailer. Hookup's photo is what you want to see. I trailer everywhere and the ramp angles can be a little different, but none are too steep. If I load as mentioned...

Looks like GW got the message

Agreed. Absurd, especially considering these boats are meant to sit outside in the elements. Mine has always been stored indoors and I completely resealed mine when the engines were replaced. If I'm not mistaken, GW still uses plywood of some sort in other areas like decks, etc. After tearing...

    2005 vintage wiper arms, springs

For some reason I lost one of my wiper springs. Buying another proved impossible. I found this wiper arm on eBay and took a chance that it might be right. It was a perfect replacement. In case someone has the need, here is the number: Afi Premier 33182 10 - 15 Inch

    Boat Slips Backwards

I've had this issue with 2 trailers. In my cases I fixed both by raising the winch on the stand and by backing further into the water. I only winch the boat about 2.5' forward while pulling it up about 8-12". I don't stop cranking until the D ring is very tight to the bow roller. IMO the other...

Looks like GW got the message

I saw the email for the new 340. Looks like a fantastic platform. I was curious about features and saw this: I wish my boat had that "feature." I'm sure this is old news when they went to the all composite construction years ago. On the bright side I hope it will mean that when they depreciate...

Joining the list of Grady owners who have to repower or give it away…

Recently I saw twin 200 Suzukis rigged for $30k. I'm not sure if they were digital or mechanical. Someone has/had a low hour digital set on THT for $26k. I have digital Suzuki's and love them. Honda and Tohatsu (rebranded Hondas) can be had for great prices also, but you would definitely want...

Joining the list of Grady owners who have to repower or give it away…

If you really like the boat and it is in great shape, go used. The parts forum of The Hull Truth has many low hours v6 engines at low prices. Many are still under warranty. While it will be a bit of a PIA to make happen, you could easily save $20k. I sold my engines well before there was a...
