You could add snaps and have a small canvas cover made for the entire "pocket". I can make the cover for you out of beige or gray canvas. It would only cost you the shipping. You would have to send a template to me, though.

Very hard to say. I would put a moisture meter on it and go from there. I would also consider having a surveyor or 'glass guy look at it.

I have painted plastic with KRYLON-FUSION and have had good results. I would recommend pressure washing, let dry, then wipe down with a plastic friendly solvent (wear gloves, so you don't get skin oils on the parts). Leave the parts in the sun to get as warm as possible, but not hot (I doubt...

I would take them out and lay them flat on top of each other with a sheet/towel separating them. They can be stored under the bed to be out of the way.
