The hatch door is reinforced with 3x5 inch straps. The Windlass is mounted on a 6x18x1/2 inch sheet of heavy duty plexiglass and that is mounted to the bow of the boat and the anchor hatch.
I tried that but it the flap still sticks out. I ended up grinding down the brass that was sticking out just a bit. The flap still sticks out a tiny bit, but If I'm not mistaken, don't the all stick out a bit? Or should they lay completely flat?
I bought 4 new scuppers from Amazon and they fit perfect. My only problem is that on of the flaps won't close because the inner brass tube protrudes out to much. I saw a link how to replace the tubes so I think I will try this out.
Thanks for all the information.
I want to thank those who shared their wisdom on my subject of installing a windlass to my 1992 Seafarer 22..
I just finished installing my windlass and it is working great. I didn't go with a pulpit, but only a bow roller. I reinforced the anchor locker hatch with a half inch plexy glass and a...
I have been looking at bow rollers for my 1992 Seafarer 22 and was hoping someone out there may have installed one so they could give me an idea on what to get. I attached a photo of the bow with a tape measure showing how much room I have to work with.
Thanks for any help...
I guess if I were younger I would probably go with pulling it up by hand with a roller. But I'm pushing 70 and plan on boating for some time in the future. Just maneuvering around the cabin can be difficult since there are no real hand rails other than the canopy. I think anyone reading this...
No, I’m just trying to get as much information on what to. I’m leaning towards just leaving the railing alone and getting a a roller. From the photo I found I should be able to mount the Windless on the existing anchor hatch door. Your thoughts?
I have a GW Seafarer 22 "2 Pictures attached, boat and bow" that does not have a Windless Anchor System. I was hoping for some feedback on installing a Pulpit and Bow Rail as seen in the third photo I have attached "Seafarer 22 with windless". I have found pulpits for sale but I'm not sure of...
I recently purchased a 1992 GW Seafarer 22, which had the original hydraulic steering. The steering is can be difficult at times, very stiff. I was hoping that I could get some feedback on converting to Fly By Wire. I have seen several systems for sale and was wondering if it is a good move.
I recently purchased a 1992 GW Seafarer and replaced all the decals. I purchased them for $139 off Ebay. The guy actually called me to verify that I was purchasing the correct decals. When I got them, they were perfect. Looks like new. He had to get permission from GW to sell them. He goes by...
