BEST RIDING HULL BEYOND 232 SV2 HULL?

Agree. The Marline rides great. 282 is next best.

What do you like and dislike about your Grady?

I agree with fischer. The Marlin is an outstanding boat with great ergonomics. Mine is going on 11 years which is twice as long as I kept my previous Gradys. The 300 is just THE perfect boat for me. As for the gunnel racks, I don't use mine for rods. I keep gaffs on one side and a telescoping...

265, Sailfish, Marlin - Ride, Stability

I have owned a 272 and now have a 300. The Marlin does indeed handle more chop better since it is alomost 4K heavier. We had a 265 at our marina for a while. You could feel the 21 degree deadrise difference just walking in it at the dock. I have fished on a 24 degree boat and could barely keep...

    300/305 Towing?

You guys have fun. I towed by first boat ('88 228G) for two years and had enough! :praise FTR, the forks at our marina have builtin scales so I can confirm a fully loaded 300 is indeed a tad over 12K pounds. Of course that weight is welcome when running through chop.

    Marlin 300 power

Mine runs fine with F225s so I would not rule those out on an otherwise good candidate boat. I'd of course love to have F300s on my next one. :<><

    Yamaha Corrosion F250

Sorry to hear that Danny. I need to have mine checked this year. My guy suggested scoping when the water pump impellers are replaced which are due soon. Fingers crossed. Keep us posted.

    Cleaning Products?

The lastest issue of Docklines (online newsleter) has a great article which covers this very well. I use IMAR Strataglass boat soap since it is recommened for the their product and does not contain chemicals which impact the clear vinyl. For tough deck stains I use SoftScrub or Bar Keepers...

Picking up my Grady 248 tomorow.

Nice. What year? I see you posted about towing service in ILM. Where are you keeping your new boat?

Sea Tow or Boat US out of the Wilmington / Southport area

Re: Sea Tow or Boat US out of the Wilmington / Southport are They are both good but I recommend Sea Tow since a friend is a captain for them in WB.

Side mount or hardtop mount outriggers?

Hear ya. The 305 is very good looking but I much prefer the helm access on the 300 and as you stated, the cockit is much larger. The HelmMaster becomes a tad more affordable if you subtract out the thruster which would not be needed. I have seen a demo and even handled one on a 375. It is...

Side mount or hardtop mount outriggers?

I agree on the side mounts. Mine are the 19' Lees which I have double rigged with the Hatteras setup. I haven't used the top mount but I much prefer the look of the side mount. I am also not sure how well you can double rig a top mount. The Hatteras setup uses some sailboat gear at the bottom...

    Three months with my Marlin

I have the F225s so it may be a bit different but I run higher RPMs. On nice days running offshore (or in the ditch), I run at 4700 with 4 bars of trim (no tabs). When seas get bumpy, the first thing I do is back the engine trim off, and slow to a comfortable speed. If seas are on the bow, I...

    Off Like A Prom Dress,

Hey Danny, In NC we are getting our first nice weekend with 3 days of mid 70s. I have company and a dinner party so fishing will wait until the next good weekend but our first sunset cruise of the year is slated for Sunday evening. Love this time of year. Where are you located?

    Three months with my Marlin

Congrats! I am a 2004 Marlin owner and one of the model's biggest fans. I see from pix you have the same radar I have. Is yours standalone or the 1933 Navnet? (mine). As for cross winds, yes they can be a pain. I usually try to compensate by reversing the engines so the rotation is toward the...

    What's GW's best seller?

I win :goodjob The 208 apparently is still the best seller. As to the future of w/a cabin models? It depends on the demand. They will continue for now but some folks high up in the ranks promised to inform me if I need to buy the last Marlin. :D DCs are ruling at the moment but we all know...

    What's GW's best seller?

For many years it was the 208. As many have said, the DC have become by far the largest segment of sales. I have been told from the horse's mouth for example that the 307 outsells all other 30's combined by a large margin. My guess the best selling models in todays market would be the Freedom 20...

Thanks for all the information - Sailfish 282!

Welcome here sir! You are not alone in your feelings about the Sailfish and Marlin. They were the flagships of the line for many, many years. There are several of us here who would prefer a 33 w/a to the center helm. I think Danny had a name for it but says if he moves up it would be to another...
