    Boston Boat Show

One of the sales reps for the east coast lives in Wilmington. He has told me on numerous occaisions that the DCs are far and away the best selling boats. For whatever the reasons, that is what the customers want and GW is wise to respond. I have been on the 375 factory boat. It is awesome...

    Thoughts - transducer/placement - Marlin 300

Airmar now makes high performance ducers in a transom mount, including the new wide beam CHIRP. My lowly 600w works amazingly well but if U get a new boat it will have a CHIRP. Mine is mounted next to the drain plug. I can track the bottle at ALL speeds. The only downside is that the 600w output...

330 Express - Glass enclosed hard top or standard?

I agree with Danny that center helms gives up too much helm space. I believe it was he who asked for a 33' Marlin. That would be some boat! As for riggers, I prefer the 19' that used to come on the 300. I'd go with the 24' before I did the hardtop mounts which I abhor. They are an advantage for...

What do you like and dislike about your Grady?

If you are speaking of the holes cut into the starboard material, they hold downrigger balls. Very useful. I have separate cupholders at the front of the under gunnel area. There are plastic rings which are attached the the gunnels. I don't use them since there are two inset holders on either...

Anyone with a new boat rusting?

I doubt GW is cutting corners on things like the swim platform. The Chinese steel theory is much more plausible. GW will take care of you. They have fixed defects on my boat LONG after the warranty period. Their customer service is legendary.

    In the market.....help making decision

I believe there is still one at our marina (Creekside). You could call and ask. Perhaps the owner would be willing to show it to you. Be aware the beam on the 232 is 9-3 so it requires a special permit for trailering.

    In the market.....help making decision

Also be aware 4 strokes will give you better fuel economy with no cost for the 2 stroke oil, this is a consideration when looking at older boats.

    In the market.....help making decision

The 263 also has an 8-6 beam for trailing but it is more boat. There is a clear trade off between smaller to trailer and larger to handle seas. I trailered my first boat (a 228g) and it was a handful. After 2 years I went into dry stack and have been there since. The best answer of course is to...

    In the market.....help making decision

That handle is very familiar. Are you on FryingPanTower fishing board? As for models, a good friend had a 263 and that boat was a beast. It has a really high bow and could handle anything my 272 Sailfish could handle. Given the beam to length ratio, I would say that boat was be the best riding...

    Repair Simrad AP11 or replace?

I believe the smaller one for vessels up to 30'. It seems to work fine.

    New 2004 Marlin Owner

Welcome and congrats on the best boat in the GW lineup. I may be a tad biased. Mine is almost 10 years old and still meets my needs to a T. I never owned my other boats more than 6-1/2 years so you can say I love my Marlin. BTW I run both tanks to keep the fuel fresh. Feel free to ask any...

Upgrading to Freedom line and looking for advice

I owned a 272 before my 300. It costs more but rides better and has more space in many areas. I believe the 285 is built on the 272/282 hull. The 307 is definately built on the same hull as all of the 30s. It depends on how much you wish to spend but every upgrade in GW models typically give...

    Trim Tab Sensitive 330

While never running a 330, I can speak about the 272 and 300 which should be similar. The issue you had sounds like bow steer which can be caused by a deep v digging in when seas push on the stern, causing lift, and cause the boat to turn starboard or port as the bow gets forced down. Here is...

No, I trim to 4 bars in both my 272 and my 300.

    Anchor problem

My 300 jammed from the factory. It was caused by the positioning and the angle so that the shaft of the delta anchor where it changes angle would catch on the from of the SS cutout in the pulpit. The dealer fixed it as part of the punch list by cutting a small circle where it was jamming. I'll...

    272 sailfish

You can run the EFIs up to 4500 and still get decent MPG. At 4500, with 4 bars on the trim, I could make 29-30 kts and with about 1.4 - 1.5 MPG (statute). Of course this requires tabs up and good sea conditions. A 60nm trip to the stream on a 12 hour day would roughly burn around 130-140g. That...
