    Taking the Factory Tour

The tour is great. Not only will you see how the boats are made but also meat many of the great factory folks. They are like a family. Seriously!

    advice needed

Yes, GW uses wood stringers but they are sealed and warrantied. THT has some loud anti-GW folks so beware of the bias. I owned a 272 and now a 300. Excellent boats. The 300 is larger, rides better, but costs more. I have F225s which push it to a 28kt cruise with ease. The F250s add 2-4 kts to...

    Marlin Storage Questions

Another happy Marlin owner here. Most of the large storage is in the cabin but the cockpit isn't bad either. I keep large items under the port seat. That is a one LARGE space. I stow a first aid kit, flares, spotlight, 12v fan, fighting belt, knives, and other items. Small stuff like pliers and...

    sailfish power comparision

    I had a 97 272 with efi 225s. It would cruise at 30-32 kts running 4700 rpm.

    Trimming the sailfish 272

I used tabs when heading into seas. The 272 before the hull was extended would stay on plane above around 18 kts.

HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR MOTORS VS TRIMMING WITH TABS

I use tabs pretty aggressively when going into a head sea. The conditions will dictate when they are needed when I start taking some hard landings. In some situations they can greatly reduce pounding and allow a few extra knots of speed. Once they seas come to beam they are less effective and...

    NE Boat Show Thoughts

I agree, Danny. The center helm doesn't work for me. I don't need all of the seating there and much prefer the 300 layout. The lines are great and it is a fine looking boat. DCs are outselling other models in each size range according to the factory folks. I wonder how much longer walkarounds...

New 375 Freedom is on the webpage!

GW folks explained the hull is over 36 so they are branding as a 37. They have already sold at least two!

    Raleigh Boat Show 2013

Tidbits from the boat show. O Great to see GW staff. Always fun. O DCs rule. Walkarounds fading. Wonder how long they will be available. O 225 and 275 big sellers O 330 doing well O 307 outsells all other 30s COMBINED O new DC on 36 hull debuts at Miami. Called 37. O many nice cosmetic touches...

    Enclosing the Marlin mid-berth

You could probably have a starboard door fabricated. I am guessing it would need to swing up. It could come to the edge of the steps but that area would still be open. I must admit I have never seen that done. Mine is also for storage. I keep folding chairs, fish bag, cushions, long boom...

How do you dock your Sailfish..?

Had a 272 and now a 300. Principle is the same but larger boat with more engine spacing is easier. Good advice here on this thread. I agree with Alfa on not using wheel. It just adds another distraction when timing may be important. This is true when wind or current is a factor. One more tip...

Poor Customer Service from Grady White

I've had nothing but incredible service from GW including a headliner repair when my boat was 8 years old. You might contact Eddie Rowe at GW. He can help you find a qualified person to make the repair. It is not reasonable to expect a warranty repair on a product that old by ANY manufacturer.

    Engine Spacing??

When the Marlin was redesigned in 2004, the engines went from 26 to 34 inch centers. It definitely makes close turning much easier ( comparing to my 1997 282). As someone mentioned, the placement must ensure clean water without turbulence caused by strakes or other hull features. I have heard...
