    TM260 on The Canyon Draggin'

Wow Ken that looks like the "Ducks Guts"....... I wondered why my picture at speed (ie. 30knots) is fine with 200khz on the split screen but the 50 hz gets lots of noise at the same speed?

    Props for 265 with 225 4 strokes

No 150 vtec's on a cat. I have another query, When i study the Grady/Yamaha performance bulletin , in which they use 19" SWS 3 blades they acheive 6,000rpm and 50.5 mph with an optimal cruise at 3,500 of 2.13 mpg and 28 mph. This seems optimistic at best. Has anyone acheived these figures?

    Props for 265 with 225 4 strokes

That may be normal for a Yammie 4 stroke Richie but if so why did my Honda's never have any stains or soot at all....

    Insulating Fishbox Covers

It gets very hot and humid here , like southern Florida. My buddy is a refrig mechanic. I noticed we were getting condensation on the lid of the big kill box from the ice and it wasn't staying cold enough. The aircon/refrig guys have excellent sheets of insulating 1"thick composite foam with...

    Props for 265 with 225 4 strokes

Something I have noticed is when I flush the motors on the trailer there is a small amount of black carbon soot washed out of the props as well as a black carbon stain from the black rubber exhaust port on the back of the motors. Motors have both done approx 20 hours now. Does this sound normal...

    Props for 265 with 225 4 strokes

Bill, you said that 3900 rpm seems to be your most economical revs. Can you give me an idea of what speed that would be, with one full tank and an average load in ideal conditions? My motors came with the new square gauges and after refilling my fuel usage is within 1-2 litres of the...

beaching it - aka letting your grady sit on the sand?

The only provision would be to anchor with a stern anchor on the beach so that the bow faces the incoming tide;We have up to 3 mtre tides and I have seen a transom flooded with incoming seas. Also be aware if you have a transom mounted transducer it can take a pounding if there is a bit of...

    Transducer Leaking

One hint I read somewhere when you are nearly finished, is not to tighten up the transducer nut all the way .Leave a couple of turns. Wait 24 hours until the sealant has cured a bit and then tighten. This way you don't squeeze out all of the sealant. Also the sealant will have some give and...

Thanks for keeping an eye out Bill, They are sending me some more 4 blades to try.I am getting ok figures with these props and everyone assures me the engines economy will get noticeably better in 50 hours...... I was going over your figures again and thinking that maybe 18' is the...

    test "drive"?

If you don't run your boat as a business .....which is 99% of buyers. Then buying a boat is an emotional decision. Walking all over it and reading all the write ups in magazines is going to get you interested in a particular boat or model. The next step is justifying it to yourself and or...

    test "drive"?

Except that the last 2 boats i have sold were not available in my city as new boats to seatrial. One was a classic and the other i had purchased it 1000miles away and there were no dealers in my town of that manufacturer. So we always qualify them first. #1 Can they afford the boat...

    test "drive"?

Wow! no-one here would buy a boat without doing the test run first. Surely in the current market they should be supplying drinks with the test ride and paying for the fuel! I have never sold a boat without taking the prospective owner for a test run usually 2 hours. You certainly have a...

    SAILFISH RE-POWER-OPTION or NOT

Suzuki's have an excellent rep here as does Yamaha. Mercury other than Opti's not so good. I have just repowered and ended up with F225's. The 250's were $10,000 more. Impossible to justify on a used boat.Suzuki 225 were about the same price as Yammie and Honda's. Yamaha and my dealer...

Head Pump not sucking in water

Same here ,when my Jabsco manual died 12 months ago it was cheaper to buy acomplete electric toilet with macerator than the jabsco manual kit. P.S. got my new Groco installed last week and found it was hooked up to a 5 amp circuit breaker ......switched breakers and she pumps...

    Replacement O-Rings for deck plates

I should have advised to take one in with you and they will size it for you. The rubber in the ones i got is stiffer which seems to make for a tighter seal

Heh Richie I know you don't like the Solas props........I would prefer Mercs but the only free exchange program in Aus is with Solas . As i wanted to try 4 blades no-one knew exactly what to buy here or there. So I went with solas. These are 18' and are still too big so would like either 17 or...
