Tough to have this happen. Go get another boat for 2023 - it will make the healing go better. steve

Port of Egypt Marine, Inc. (631-765-2445)

Port of Eqypt is a great place to deal with. I live here in California and saw the used GW 228 that I purchased on their web site and my nephew is a commercial fisherman and lives in their area. His father had bought a Mako there in the early 1970's so my nephew handled the purchase arrangements...

    Looking for GPS/Fishfinder for 208

I solved the problem with keeping the electronics cover open while under way. I use a short bungee cord and tie it around the pole for the roof and the electronics cover. It works fine. Whats really funny is that when I take someone out fishing they rarely look at the depth finder or the GPS...

    Looking for GPS/Fishfinder for 208

Thanks for all of that information. I have a Lorance HDS 8 Gen 1 that came with the boat. I works just fine except after a while the transduces gets too much on it to cause weak readings when underway. While trolling or drifting its fine. I was once told that salmon don't show up on the older...

Mustang65fbk Read you post about getting the 943xsv I am at an early stage to replace mine in the fall and wonder if you compared this to the ECHO Map UHD 94SV ? What is the purpose of the 4" unit in your picture? Would you post a pic or two of your Garmin while out fishing - How do like...

It’s official… we’ve got some blood on the deck!

I made my first trip to BC in 1976 and looked at the map and saw that Ucleulet and Torfino they looked like the end of the world in the Pacific. I drove over there and again did no fishing. It was an amazing place then and the drive there was breathtaking. I was a NY' ER not long before that so...

It’s official… we’ve got some blood on the deck!

Don: When I was at Campbell River I keep looking at the map to Tahsis and wanted to drive there to see it. Next time i go to BC I will need to go to Nootka Island Lodge and fish there. Did you take your boat there by trailer to Gold River and then boat over to Nootka Sound?. That would sound...

So the 208 and 228 go away for the new 218

Don My wife's sister lives at Fanny Bay. We drove up from California to there five years ago and stayed at the Campbell River Resort, stayed at Victoria and drove to Sooke and then stayed Ucluelet and drove to Torfino. Did not get my act together to go fishing which was sad. All of these...

    Grady 208 Adventure ???

I read that the 218 is a 2023 model so maybe that is why no fanfare yet. I love my 228 and those of us with a 208, 228, & 226 with just have to be happy with what we have. Who really wants to spend 150K for a 218 anyway. Sturg.

It’s official… we’ve got some blood on the deck!

Same boat and year as yours. I have it easy - stays in a slip at the marina in San Rafael year round. Caught some like yours on a party boat. Still waiting for the salmon to arrive north of the GGB in decent numbers - they are late this year. How do you get on the 228 when at the buoy...

    Fuel gauge question

The Suzuki was purchased about four years ago. When i get the boat serviced again at the end of 2022 I will ask them to install a analog gauge. Here we have to add gas at 18 gallons at a time with four five gallon jugs. I just put in 36 gallons and the c-10 read 92 gallons before the last...

    Fuel gauge question

Had to do a repower our 2004 GW228 with a Suzuki 250 along with the c-10 gauge. The fuel management system is impossible to use due to lack of fuel docks in my area. Have to add fuel with five gallon jugs. Boat is at a marina. Just wondering if the fuel tank has a floating system that a...

    Replacing batteries

Seasick thanks for the tip. Was out earlier today and as the boat was moving I pressed the tab on the right side - and it evened out and no more list. caught a few halibut but they were too small to keep. Ive owned the 228 for about eight years and barely know how to operate it besides...

    Replacing batteries

Thank you for the help. I will fiddle with the trim tabs to see if that changes the list. You picked a great boat and I followed your trip from east to west. Ours came from NY to Ca and had it trailered by a mover in their pick-up. Sturg.

    Replacing batteries

As this is a topic for batteries we have a '04 228 - the two batteries are at stern on port side. I read of this board that a 228 will list to the port side. Trust this is because of the battery location. Our 228 does list to the left. Not very well versed with the trim tabs and do not use...

Scummy Things Fellow Boaters Have Done To Others...

A few year back I used a mechanic that had a dock to bring my boat to. They left the boat at their dock and delayed bringing it into their yard for several weeks. A local yokul with a sail boat came by and took my boat and stripped it of most of the supplies and then let my boat adrift...
