If it was just batteries, I'd say tough it out. Since you are doing that other stuff, it might be worth it to remove the generator temporarily. I removed the gen from my '04 with worse bilge access and it wasn't that bad. 2 of us were able to lift it out onto the deck.

the battery placement on my '04 is pretty tragic... however- I read this post and googled 2011 330 express batteries. In a related story, I no longer think the battery placement on my '04 is tragic.
