1997 vintage 16-903 panel switch needed - where to find?

One of my switches is missing (bilge), and while I do plan to eventually upgrade the panel for the time I just want to replace the switch. According to Grady they are obsolete. Anyone found a drop in replacement that will work? Anyone have any old switches you will part with? Thanks!

    OX66 charging second battery

I think I may be starting to understand what I had backwards in my head, thanks to your reply, and it has implications for what types of batteries go where. Please tell me if I have this straight. If I move from Off to position 1 when I use the boat, then battery 1 should not be a starting...

    OX66 charging second battery

I have forever cemented myself in Grady White forum lore as the person who questioned 40 or more years of common practice. Sigh, You all are too kind not to beat me up for reposting a Reddit question. But at risk of getting another dunce cap for today could someone please explain what Skunkboat...

    OX66 charging second battery

Now I’m confused. I did a little reading on this subject, and if I understand what I read connecting two dissimilar voltage batteries in parallel can lead to massive current flow as the higher voltage battery tries to charge the lower. It can lead to shorts and battery explosions. Hmmm. Isn’t it...

Some success today rigging the 228 project

Actually now that I look at it closer, for the 3% voltage drop, and a 30 ft round trip, it should be 4AWG unless I'm totally misunderstanding the circuit.

Some success today rigging the 228 project

Seasick you likely know the answer here. I downloaded the owner's manual for my year and it shows that there's 10 AWG wires running from the battery switch (stern) to the helm switch breakers. It also shows there's a 40 amp fuse in the transom in that line. Since the breaker protects the line...

Some success today rigging the 228 project

Three trips to the boat with an endoscope over three days and I still couldnt find the entrance to the rigging tubes. Today I lay on my back studying where I was going to have to cut a hole in the binnacle to see into the heart of darkness where wires go, and I had a "you dont suppose" moment...

Both battery bay hatches just fwd of transom have a steel rod with ball on both sides - what do they do?

It looks like they push pull something on or off or open or shut, but it’s hidden from view. It’s maddening how Grady gave so little thought to maintenance access In 1998. I can already tell I am going to have to purchase a quality endoscope so I can figure out what goes where and what is...

Hi Tish From your posts it looks like you may live in the Seattle area? I just bought a Grady 228 that I am restoring and putting a motor on. What model Grady do you own? I have recently mostly fished Shilshoe and Jeff head, and south of the oil docks in my 18 foot Hewes. Because it’s a...

Where is the rigging tube entrance and exit?

The Grady 228 project boat i bought had its teleflex cables and wiring harness cannibalized so I am unable to see where they went. I am guessing that the entrance is underneath the binnacle throttle lever hole somewhere. There are wires that disappear to the starboard side of that opening but I...

Hi, I just read a post you made where you talked about your 228 and it sounds like you know your boat innards well. I just bought a project 228 and would love to be able to ask someone like yourself a few questions. Please let me know if you have time. Thanks! Matt
