The lower the engine the more drag. So the engine lugs harder to turn a given rpm. If it has to work hard enough it will overheat. I agree that the engine should be raised to the proper height before deciding on the prop. But the 17" 3-blade is still probably going to work better on that hull.

On my 2008 Seafarer, I ripped out the self-tapping screws that hold the rear cushions in place. I couldn't figure out how to get to them. Now I just hang the cushions on with the J hooks and they are easy to remove and replace. They stay in place just fine.
