My 1996 boat has the 15.5x17 Saltwater Series II prop, and it seems to be too much. Hole shot is good, midrange is okay, but above 22 knots it struggles somewhat. Max speed is 26 knots and 5,100 rpm. The original prop on a 258 with the same engine is 13.75x19. What do people recommend?

If your boat came with one fuel tank, it should only have one fuel sender. An additional sender could be for the fresh water tank. If your boat came pre wired for a second tank, search the general tank area and look for two wires. One a ground, the other your pink/white.

I wanted a more accurate reading of the fuel tanks on my 228, and installed two separate gauges with a wide sweep. With this setup, pink goes to one gauge, ping/white to the other. Bought the gauges on Amazon.

This makes sense. The bolster is very firmly attached, I thought it must use screws somewhere.

I was able to remove the cockpit bolsters, but not the inside ones. I did not find any screws, and the bolsters appear to be securely fixed to the fiberglass. Any suggestions?

Two Merc 200 hp. four strokes would be the lightest twin engine pair available, I believe. I would consider a single 300 hp Merc, plus a kicker. This would save 300-400 lbs.

Most likely Merc engines, being so light, that Honda sales are lower than they could be. If the BF350 was 100 lbs. lighter, they would sell more. If your boat could handle the weight, the BF 350 would be a fantastic engine on a boat.

IF the engines were at 45 degrees, installing 30" shaft engines would raise the inclined lower unit 5"/1.41=3.5".

I have a 228 as well as a 258. I have had a cooler on the bow of the 228 for the last couple of months to keep the lower units almost completely out of the water. This works well, just is inconvenient. The 300 lbs. on the bow brought the lower unit up several inches. The deck is still has a...

If the engines are 25", you could do glass work to raise the engines 5". Then convert your engines to 30". That should bring the lower units up about 3".

A Canyon 306 is pretty large. I suspect you would need at least 4-5 coolers to bring the bow down enough that the drains are too high.

You can also leave a large cooler on the bow, and fill it full of water. It should raise the engines about an inch.

I found an image online of the storage space on a 228. The 228 that I am selling has an auxiliary fuel tank in the location. However in my 258 the space is empty. I could build it out of glass, but if Grady ever made a hatch and coaming for this area of the 258, it would be 10x easier to buy...

I recently purchased a new Rock and Roll trailer. The price was very reasonable, and not that much more than used trailers I had seen online. They are made in FL, but I bought one from their dealer in N.J. The quality appears to be excellent. They could easily build a trailer to fit your boat.

I am thinking it would have a sealed bottom, and use a portable pump to empty it. I would not need it for salmon, but for tuna fishing it could be handy.

That is a cavernous area, below the deck. Has anyone turned that space into a fish box? Ideally there would be a premade, drop in fish box available to purchase.
