Do a search on bracket repair. There was a HUGE discussion about a few years ago. One of the posters was a marine mechanic/boat builder and had some strong views about repair vs replacement.

Good move on the Salt-Away --- I use it every trip after the trailer comes out of the water. The crew gets upset sometimes because they are ready to go. I just tell them they can shell out an extra $20/guy to replace the brakes and then the all SHUT-UP.

The hindges are made by a company called "SouthCo". I've found them on ebay -- Not cheap. The prop-rods can be purcahsed almost any automtive suppllier. Just measure the over-all lenght and be sure to get the same mount/ball size.

Glad you found the problem. While your checking, take a look at the thru-hull fittings. If they are plastic and have never been replaced, you should look into getting that done

I just replaced the drum brake system on my trailer last year. I went with the SS Kodiak units w/ the cadnum rotors. I had one of the two relays go bad on my starboard 150. It would go up but not down. It would not work at all from the helm sw. Replaced the "DOWN" relay and all is fine. This sounds like low fluid since you can hear the motor continue to whine, but the ram doesn't move. I would start there.

If you have never used a direct drive polisher/sander be VERY CARFUL when going over outside edges. The polisher tends to put more pressure on thes eareas when you pass over them. Also, be mideful of how much pressure you use when usin agressive oxidation removing compounds. You can easily...

I used a large gear puller and a brass hammer. If you are careful, any hammer will work. Once you get the nut loose out to the point where it is flsuh with the stem and put gentle pressure on the wheel its self. tap the nut while pulling on the wheel. It should pop free whitout to much force. I...

Just a footnote: If you want your blades to last longer, Just cut a strip of foam pipe insulation slightly loger then the blades themselves and open the stuff via the split and slde them over the blades. It keeps the UV from drying out the blades.

Stay away from using drift sock when trolling. IF the thing comes loose --- It's going right back in to the prop(s). At least a bucket will break-up if it hits the prop. That sock will be a MESS to try and remove.
