a bit over due as i did this back in the summer, but i got a new switch panel, new switches, and a new gage panel. behind the sceens is a new power distribution block with breakers instead of fuses. sorry for the poor quality pics, they got compressed when i e-mailed them to myself.

this is why i went with red backlighting for my switches and will convert the 2 green backlit yamaha gages to the red/orange. it also preserves your night vision as you transition from looking at your gages to something dark

i tend to agree with the post above. that is a very small boat for that type of journey. i would trailer down to a destination spot of your choice (keys would be great, but long tow), and explore around that area. that being said, a 70 year old guy just did the great loop in a john boat, so...

were your engines down when you were using the drift sock? if so, they were also acting as a drift sock, but from the stern. id raise them and give that a try.
