Keeping the boat in the water for a month

You should be ok - that water at Fontana is COLD!. You may have that "tea-colored" stain on the hull that will likely need some MaryKate On/Off to remove completely, followed by waxing the hull. Be careful in the Keys staying on the water for too long though.

228 seafarer with hardtop on trailer height

As I recall, ours is about 11'-6" so you should be fine as long as you don't have a radar, etc mounted. Anything less than 12 feet overhead you need to put someone on the boat watching carefully as you pull in. 13-6 clearance is NO problem for you.

need cover for 228 seafarer hardtop

Go to coversearch.com. Our cover is model number 1C-90025. Fits just fine. About $600ish bucks. Had ours for 4 plus years and still ok. Sorry I can't post a pic right now but check the website.

    232 Gulfstream Fuel Burn

It's for 2 engines (note the propeller part #s - 2 props - L & R). Also the perf report shown is for HPDIs not 4 stroke, btw.

    Live well pump

Changing livewell pump DOES require pulling the livewell out. Once its out of the way your access is ok. While you are there be sure and check all seacocks for freedom of movement and hoses clamps, etc.

Grady 282 Bilge Going On Every 5 mins

Had the same problem a year or so ago- could NOT find the source of the leak. Finally noticed that the drain plug had a pinhole leak that was between the plug itself and the plug housing. My best guess was that it was in a slip for a few days with some nasty stray electrical current happening...

    SPAM is ruining GreatGrady

The SPAM is out of control. I've PMed the moderator - no answer. It's sad seeing this happen and no corrective action being taken. :(

    Gulfstream Rescue with my 209

This is a good lesson on why you should not have BOTH batteries selected when running. A "bad" battery is not noticed as the "good" battery is taking up the slack. When the good one finally goes bad, you are stuck. IMO, the only time you would select BOTH is in an emergency when you have to...

    Helm Chair Arm Rests

I got replacement covers through Atlantic Marine at Wirghtsville Beach. 910-256-9911. Just ask for the parts dept. They come as a pair complete with the glue to apply them over your existing covers. Not cheap - I think they were about 90ish bucks per pair. Good luck.

Mold/Mildew stain on caulk - help!

I've tried numerous products in attempt to remove the mold stain on the caulk line the runs underneath the T-top between the top and the radio box enclosure. No luck so far. Anyone had the same problem and found a cure?

    HiltonHead boathouse?

We are in HHI a lot - and will be moving the Grady there pretty soon. Check out villa rentals on this site: http://www.coastalhhi.com/ I'd suggest a villa on the north end if you want to be close to where your boat is. You can rent place for a few days - no need to book for a full week unless...

Pursuit os345 vs. Grady 330 express

What a nice decision you have to make!! I had a chance to take a close look at at a new 2011 330 Express at the Boathouse in Hilton Head, SC recently. It had the new glass enclosure. WOW, it was impressive! The sightlines were amazing - NO obstructions whatsever when you are at the helm...

    Towing a 228G

We tow with a Z-71 Tahoe with a 5.3 and a trailering package. It tows ok but I definitely know it's there behind me. I'd prefer a pickup if had garage space but the Tahoe is fine and we've done many hundreds of miles towing to the gulf and the SE GA coast.

    228G or 232?

The 232 is a LOT more boat than the 228 - over 1,000 lbs heavier and 1 foot 3 inches more beam. The 228 has a small sink and no stove. The sink does not get in the way of the berth. I'm really not sure how you could sleep the wife + 2 kids in the 228 - it could accommodate 2 adults but thats...

    226/228 outboard clearance

Just my 2 cents on the 228 handling ideas mentioned here: I've found that trimming the engine up to the top of the trim cyclinders substantially improves handling around dock and backing. I personally haven't had the need to trim up any further than that. If it's very windy, rolling up the...

    New 225

She sure looks purdy Doug! Suggest you read through the manuals for the boat and all installed accessories. The Lowrance manual should indicate what Sat WX capability it has. I'm betting you could add XM weather. MarineMax can adivise you also. Oh - 1 more thing - go to the Grady website and...

    New 225

Congratulations!!!!!!! You made a GREAT purchase decision! Please feel free to ask lots of questions as you get to learn your new Grady. I'm going to offer some unsolicited advice on handling around docks, trailering, boat ramps, etc. The engine on your 225 is bracket mounted just like our...

228g hard top ,top end speed

Yes, going to an aluminum prop would be a big mistake - you lose top-end performance because the aluminum prop tends to not maintain its shape compared to SS. You'll have to fork out the bucks for SS. I just checked our prop for you - it is a Yamaha Saltwater Series II 15 1/4 X 17. Your 19 pitch...
