    grady club in south jersey

We’re on Manasquan river and the tides are nowhere near 9’. They are 4’ max and 3’ is typical.

    EPIRB Placement

Ours is mounted inside the cabin door. I’d rather have it in arms reach so it can be activated as quickly as possible. I can activate it then get the ditch bag. Do not get an auto deploy. Chances are the boat wouldn’t sink enough for the auto deploy feature to work so why pay for it?

    When it goes wrong!

No tabs and ride the back of the wave. I’m amazed at the number of people that will surf waves going into an inlet. That’s the easiest way to do exactly what this guy did.

    New Jersey Grady Group?

We’re running a Marlin. Had a Sailfish until Sandy so we burn much more fuel. Bay fishing around Lavallette is pretty bad except in the spring / fall. There’s actually a good run of bluefish through that area every April or early May. These are good sized racers and they are a ton of fun to...

Service Recommendations - Ocean County NJ

Stay away from Hobby Lobby. They got dropped by Grady for a reason.

    New Jersey Grady Group?

Are you planning on doing a lot of ocean / inlet fishing? If so you may want to consider slipping your boat closer to the inlets. Parents kept theirs behind their house in Lavallette and we figured we were burning $50-75 in fuel just getting to the inlet. If you go North you are dealing with...

    Best boat you never owned?

Jimmy Buffet’s new Freeman with a custom house from Merritt is pretty sweet. Love the looks of a big sportie but the maintenance costs are scary.

    282 outriggers

Our 282 had 18‘s, no wires,. We double rigged and never had an issue. Current Marlin has t-top mounted carbon fibers that are 21 I think.

Grady getting slapped around on THT

The door hatch cut-out was atrocious on the boat in question also. I think the main point of the thread is if that is what QC let get passed them on a boat show boat then what is the everyday person getting. THT def. has some GW bathers but the general consensus is that they are good boats but...

Windshield glare from console on Grady 255

Are you wearing polarized sunglasses? If so, you'll get glare, try non-polarized and see if that helps.

    Grady vs What??

In walkarounds Grady, Whaler and Pursuit The 28 Conquest vs the 30 Marlin isn't a fair fight. We had a 282 Sailfish previous to our Marlin and the extra weight in the Marlin makes for a much better ride. Not knowing your budget the Pursuit OS is a very nice set up worth looking at. FYI 3...

Express 305 prop advice-all 300 Marlin and 305 Express owner

Re: Express 305 prop advice-all 300 Marlin and 305 Express o If you're only getting 5400 rpms max you're over-propped. Our Marlin is turning 5900 max and hitting 50mph @ .8 mpg. Around 5500 we are getting 1.0 or so. GW site lists std props as 15-1/2 x 17

Video on the Updated Marlin 300

Wish they would run the windshield to the T-top, that little piece of eisenglass is useless. The frame is right at line of sight for me.

    2014 Marlin leaks

We have a '14 Marlin which is lift kept and we're getting water into places our old boat 282 Sailfish never got wet. Wondering if anyone has any feedback. 1. Water in bilge under mid-berth. We constantly have water in this bilge. Our previous boat was bone dry. 2. Water in starboard...

    Marlin outrigger mounting Q

I'm in the process of mounting Taco 380 bases and Bly carbon fiber outriggers on a new Marlin. I have the 3.5 degree wedges but when I try to use them it seems to throw the alignment of the bases off. My question is can I just skip the wedges? Anyone else install t-top mounted outriggers w/o...

Side mount or hardtop mount outriggers?

No Helm Master, didn't think it was worth the money when we'll have a bow thruster. Cool system but at almost 20k it didn't make sense for us. The DC's are interesting but not real hardcore fishing boats which is what we do. Considered the 30' express but the center helm seemed to be...

Side mount or hardtop mount outriggers?

Guys thanks for all the great responses. Thinking about our situation (no bridges) and a tendency to pull lots of spreaders I think we are going with the side mounts. I fish solo a bunch so folding t-top mounted might be an added hassle I don't want. Thanks again. FYI- we are replacing a...

Side mount or hardtop mount outriggers?

Brian, thanks for the response. Do you have to collapse them down when you are running? Do they get tangled when double rigged and folded? Kurt

Side mount or hardtop mount outriggers?

If you were building a new Marlin would you go side mounted outriggers or t-top mounted? Why?
