    Transom maintenance

Uncoated aluminum and stainless steel in contact with one another WILL NOT play well together. But with 1/2" or larger bolts/washers in contact with 1/4" aluminum plate, it will be a long time before the aluminum corrosion results in failure.

Saltwater fishing boat for wheelchair user?

I love that you are interested in allowing your son to enjoy family time on the water, and I hope that your are able to find an acceptable boat. Your $50K budget will very likely limit your selection. Would you not get more enjoyment from using the $50K purchase budget and the additional...

    336, 366 or 376 Canyon Cabin/Head

I think the Canyon's have the same vacu-flush toilets as the express models, and except for right after someone does their business, I would assume no difference.

Buying a Grady White 222 Fisherman

Assuming you can't afford or don't want a new boat, if you like the boat and it is priced right so you can repair all the issues a 25 year old boat and outboard will likely have and still be considerably under cost of new, go for it.

    battery

Hard to say without more info. Single or dual engine? Do you have a battery switch of some type? If so, is it "on-off" or "1, 2, both"? Do you have onboard battery charger? Go to Blue Sea System website for battery and switch wiring diagrams.

purging air after new fuel tank

IF your primer bulb is working and IF you have no leaking fuel lines, air will be removed from the fuel line and be replaced with fuel as you pump the primer bulb. Air will be discharged from carburetor bowl vents of a carbureted engine or from the vapor separator, or similar device depending...

    Head Pump Out

Hookup1, you say you have occasional priming issues. I can't determine from your photo, but Does the discharge hose run directly to a below-water-line seacock? If yes, you may likely benefit from a vented loop.

    welding hardtop support

I had pipe weld cracks early in the life of my 2005-06 330. These were welded by my marina owner (front support pipes so no wires) and no cracks since. I did tighten the loose support/mounting flange fasteners, which I suspect to have been the cause for initial cracking.

    Replace Jabsco Electric Conversion?

The corrosion shown in your photograph appears to be substantial and could hinder your ability to successfully rebuild. I agree with you that you might be better off replacing with new. You can always tear-down the old one before you toss it just to learn how the assembly goes together.

Yamaha 175 2stroke- Hard to start.

The parts diagram I am looking at shows a solenoid as part of the fuel system and I can only assume this is for electric choke activated by pushing the starter key inward. I am guessing 1) the solenoid is stuck in the choked (butterflies closed) position or 2) the starter key switch in stuck...

    93 208 Repower - V6 or V8 Mercury

I'm not sure why, but there appears to be some potentially "more-than-usual" number of Merc 300 powered cats breaking prop shafts. I normally would not believe such reporting except I personally witnessed such failure. I the case I witnessed, Mercury was great and quickly address the matter...

    93 208 Repower - V6 or V8 Mercury

While not apple-to-apple comparison, I just repowered my 220 Dauntless (OK I know it isn't a GW) with the V6 and I am very pleased so far. Boat essentially leaps on plane, is plenty fast, and gives me almost 5 mpg planning at mid twenty. I have digital shift and throttle and wish I had gotten...

    mystery water

If you boat in anything other than calm seas, you might be getting some water from the cap rail. They can leak.

And no tabs with engines trimmed up? I don't have bottom paint.

    330 with Verado 300/v8 question.

Automated14 My old Yamaha 250's are close to what you are reporting above. Are you confident the 17 pitch prop is best for that engine and gear ratio? I think it might be too little prop and you might be hitting the rev limiter. Have you run it with the computer and tested other props?

    Carry an Extra Propeller ?

Over 50 years of active boating experience and I have never needed a spare prop. Shear pins, yes. Limp home on a busted-up prop, yes. The only prop I can remember losing on a boat left along with the broken prop shaft so a spare prop would have been useless anyway. I have what I consider...

Remote Spot and Aft Lights - Good or Bad idea?

I consider remote spot light and aft spreader lights 100% necessary. My spotlight is an ACR RCL-95 LED and my aft spreader lights are Lumitec Caprera2 LED. When the spotlight stops working correctly, I toss and replace it (two in 18 years). The aft spreader lights are fixed mounted and I...

    SD card

No still wet behind the ears West Marine associate will know anything about NAVnet VX2. But... Furuno service will and they will actually still help you with this long obsoleted system. So look up their tech service phone number and call for help. For now, the VX2 units were factory set for...

    33 express generator

I thought you wanted to chill-kill big ole yellowfins, but sounds like you just want a beer cooler! I don't have chiller plates on my older 330 Express. So when fishing for more than one over nighter, I will typically bring along the Yeti 250 full of ice for topping off the stern fish locker...

    tilt trim in seastar helm

If clean and no water I would not worry. But if your are concerned, I suppose you could attach a bottle(s) of new SeaStar fluid to the helm (do you have the threaded adapter and tubing) and pump out old as if you were purging the system.
