A guy told me not to change the thermostats on my 1996 OX66 Yamaha outboard because I risk breaking the bolts off. My outboard has super low hours (like 200) and virtually no signs of corrosion under the cowling. But the outboard is 27 years old. Has anyone else broken these bolts?

thanks for the quick response. I think you’re right. There seems to be a rubber dam or seal between that cavity and the impeller housing area. The edge in question looks indented for a seal, but I don’t think it needs or came with one. Thanks again for the confirmation

My 1997 tournament 192 needs a new fuel sending unit. Obviously it’s just a few bolts and couple of wires. But I’m wondering if everything goes back together ok, or does it crumble in your hands. It’s the original fuel tank. Anyone replaced one of these. Thanks
