    Advice on a 282 Sailfish

I have a 282 and love the boat but small for sleeping. I am planning on something that fits better for an overnight. Most of my boating is west coast ocean fishing or touring social groups around the SF bay.

2003 Grady White Express 33 with Suzuki 350 duoprop

I repowered with suzuki 300’s on my 285 sailfish and placed the cavitation plate in the same horizontal plane as the bottom of the boat. No cavitation unless trimmed way up. I used a straight edge off the hull and that is how I decided which holes.

    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

My 282 also has the ports at/under the waterline, especially with a full tank of fuel. I’m not sure the part but I’d suggest metal over plastic as I have seen plastic damaged while docking. A question, how are you managing to reach the clamps on the hoses? On the sailfish, these look like they...

Anyone with a 282 on a bunk trailer?

Mine rides right at 14’ high from the top of my radar mount with my radar removed. My guess is the mount is around 6” high so you could guess with nothing on top 13’6”.

Resolved - Newbie Questions on a 282 Sailfish

This might be a silly question but is your boat connected to shore power? Unless you have an inverter on your boat, those 110v plugs don't work when not connected to shore power. On the water pump, are you sure you are using the fresh water pump and not the raw water pump? If the raw water...

    Props for Marlin

I was seeing something similar and made a couple adjustments that helped a lot. First, I had started with a toe-in position of 1/2”. This means the front of the lower, measured from the pointy part, was 1/2” farther apart than the center of the prop shaft. This had me finding myself actively...

    Repowering 2004 Marlin

The new Suzuki 300’s are fantastic! I was out today doing adjustments on the toe-in and was looking at what I was getting for speed, rpm’s and fuel burn. At 3500 rpm, I was traveling 25.6 knots at 1.63 gph. Engines are quieter and get up on plane so much faster. Thanks for the recommendation!

    Repowering 2004 Marlin

I spent way too much time looking at what the Suzuki uses for rigging last night. Coincidentally I just added another backbone cable to my N2K network, completing the replacement of all electronics network except the Yamaha bus. It looks like I am already most of the way there. While I am at it...
