251 Coastal or 236 Fisherman or 235 Freedom

I didn't realize the wiper was that cheap. We use the deluxe lean bar almost every trip. Sometime its used as a livewell for fish, others as a baitwell, or sometimes as a trash can. You can close the seacock and use it as an ice chest too. It'll fill with water with the seacock open when you're...

251 Coastal or 236 Fisherman or 235 Freedom

Very good. We got everything you have except for the windshield wiper. What was the price difference for the 350 over the 300? And I agree the 300 is a tried and true. That is reason enough for me to stay with what's been good for so long.

Excellent! You'll be very happy! You gotta post pictures after delivery :) Out of curiosity, what options did you get?

251 Coastal or 236 Fisherman or 235 Freedom

I asked the 300 vs 350 question to my dealer and the Grady rep at the Houston boat show just a few weeks ago. They said not much difference. You'll get a little more top end speed, but the midrange speed differences will be negligible. You'll also have a slightly heavier boat. The Canyon 306...

251 Coastal or 236 Fisherman or 235 Freedom

You'll notice a big difference in gunwale height on the 235 vs 251, with the 236 having a much higher gunwale height. That may not be an issue for you, but I have a 3 year old and the gunwale comes to just about his chest area. Which makes my wife feel much safer. The higher gunwale height of...

    Trolling motor on 33 Canyon

I put my battery in the center console and ran the cables thru the same path the windlass wire runs. We never use the head so I removed it and built a battery box maid of 1/2" starboard and screwed it into the same screw holes the head was installed by. While I obviously don't have a generator...

    Trolling motor on 33 Canyon

I had zero issues with my Rhodan during the 1 year I had it. It held my 236 Fisherman steady in 20 knot winds when the conditions were not fun to fish in. The Kraken seems just as powerful, but i now have the ability to control it on my Garmin 8612. Both worked just fine with zero issues.

    Adding a Windless Anchor

    Nope. Not one bit.

    Adding a Windless Anchor

Get a GPS trolling motor and completely forget about the windlass. I have a windlass on my 236 Fisherman and haven't used it once in the two years since I've had a trolling motor. I've had 13 fishing trips so far in 2024 (i work full time as an engineer and have two youg kids in sports, so 13...

    Trolling motor on 33 Canyon

The bigger question IMO is what brand TM to get. I HIGHLY recommend getting a TM that will interface with your chartplotter. Having insight into the TM and controlling it from your helm will make life much much much easier. FWIW, the Kraken can only be controlled from a Garmin chartplotter. I...

    Rod holders

Yes. Think of where the cup holder is on the transom between the livewell and aft fish box. I put a zero degree combo cup holder and rod holder in it's place. It's the perfect spot for a bait net. I also replaced the forward aft cup holders (the ones closest to the console) with combo 15...

    Fisherman 236 cover for sale

I have a '21 Fisherman and have had a LaPorte cover on it since new. The boat lives in my backyard. It will be another year or two before it's time to replace. What slight customizations did get, e.g. hole for the anchor windlass?

    Trolling motor on 33 Canyon

Also look at Rhodan as their longest shaft is 108 inches. I had a Rhodan on my 236 Fisherman, but sold it and got the Garmin Karken so I can control it from my Garmin chartplotter. The Rhodan was great, but being in the Garmin echosystem is better.

Looking for a decent boat cover

My LaPorte cover for my 236 is on it's 4th year and still looks brand new. It's a great cover and fits like a glove. You're able to get slight customizations such as the hole for the anchor. They have digital models for the GW lineup so their covers simply fit. I won't even look elsewhere when...

251 Coastal or 236 Fisherman or 235 Freedom

Get the 236 and don't look back. Much more capability than the 231CE for about the same price (or a little less since the 231CE is a new model). I have the upgraded leaning post with 2nd livewell (same leaning post the 231CE has.) The 236 has the 160qt cooler on the transom that the 231CE...

Newbie - Fisherman or Coastal Explorer

Just for clarification, the 231CE was not released to the market when I bought my 236. Even if the 231 were available, I'd take the 236 any day over the 231. In a matter of fact, my local dealer told me the 231 is more expensive than the 236, and in my personal opinion, is not justifiable. The...

Newbie - Fisherman or Coastal Explorer

I have an 8 year old and 3 year old. The high gunwales of a 236 are exactly what was needed.

Newbie - Fisherman or Coastal Explorer

@Sjones145 - PM me and I'll take you out on my 236. I live in Friendswood. I never ever even considered the 251 CE when I bought my 236 Fisherman. We do a lot of fishing on the bay.

    New seats for 236

Might want to replace with the upgraded leaning post with the livewell. That's what we have on my 236, and honestly we never ever considered getting the standard leaning post like you have. I enjoy our seats.

Bow mount trolling motor on a fisherman 180

All I can say is Grady BETTER start including a trolling motor pre-rig as an option on new models, not just the Coastal Explorer models. Just about everybody these days has a GPS trolling motor. It's a complete game changer. I have a 236 Fisherman. I had a Rhodan last summer, but just changed...
