Winter cover for Adventure 208 (hard top and pulpit)

Looks slick and it keeps weight off Motor which would be a plus. I will be more than happy to get 5 seasons out of the cover. The warranty for this style (Denier 1200) states 5 years but you can't go by that. Do you have any issues with snow build up or water pooling? Also notice that we...

Winter cover for Adventure 208 (hard top and pulpit)

Thanks much for the advice. I'll see what I can do to add some extra support upfront

Winter cover for Adventure 208 (hard top and pulpit)

Same to bow but no pic of that. I may add a kicker for next year - good suggestion for taking some weight of cowling. My brother-in-law suggested taping over all the drains to keep bees from building nests next spring. I may remove the strap when I stop by to do that before heading south...

Winter cover for Adventure 208 (hard top and pulpit)

Erie Pa - yes, a lot of snow. I ran a 2x6 from hard top to main outboard. In addition to providing support, I wanted to protect the cover from sharp edge of the rocket launchers. I am pretty confident that the 2x6 will be strong enough considering the sharp slope. As far as the top and other...

Winter cover for Adventure 208 (hard top and pulpit)

Posting this an an FYI for Adventure owners who (like me) might have trouble finding a winter cover that fits with both a hard top and pulpit. The popular Budge web site that I came across only provides sizing for an Adventure with or without a hard top and makes no reference to a pulpit...

Need info for a new trolling motor

Yep. A new Yamaha outboard of any horse power will cost more than a Suzuki.

Need info for a new trolling motor

For clarification, I own a 2000 model year Adventure 208 that was repowered by previous owner with a 2017 Yamaha F200 outboard. The high-thrust 9.9 kicker is carburated as you state. This has not been an issue for me. It starts immediately and is very quiet. Yamaha seems to have a knack for...

Need info for a new trolling motor

Thanks. I am proof that these modifications are within the capabilities of the average boat owner. I never even owned a boat until 2021 when I purchased a 16" Lund. I purchased the Adventure later in 2021 with the intention of hiring a boat mechanic to perform the needed labor. After failing...

Need info for a new trolling motor

The Panther sticker is part of the Panther adjustable bracket assembly. It is what the kicker motor clamps onto. Fuel Line connection. I do not have a separate tank and instead tapped into main fuel line. Instead of cutting a Tee in the main line line, I decided to replace the the existing...

Need info for a new trolling motor

I forgot to point out that I also moved the swim ladder from port to starboard side. Batteries are on starboard side of my 2000 Adventure 208 and this gave me weight distribution concerns. That reason plus I did not like the tight turn that control cables would have needed to make to the...

Need info for a new trolling motor

I installed a new Yamaha high-thrust 9.9 (T9.9XPB) on my 2000 in summer of 2022. Long shaft model and I installed it on a Panther adjustable bracket as shown in photo. Very pleased with how it worked out. I did have to use heavy wall 2 inch aluminum tubing to get standoff beyond transom rub...

Adventure main and kicker controls Set up

I am on a similar path in setting up my Adventure for Lake Erie fishing and would like to compare notes and ask a question or two. Sorry for my lengthy post. Background: I purchased a 2000 Adventure in late 2021. It is powered by a 2017 Yamaha 200 HP. I am in the middle of installing: -...

Hydraulic hose length for Adventure 208 installation

Thanks much for the reply. Assuming my 200HP is on the left and kicker on the right, he was suggesting that I would have a tendency to push/pull both controls vs just the left one when operating the main motor. Your explanation that you don't find this awkward is quite helpful. Fortunately...

Hydraulic hose length for Adventure 208 installation

Many Thanks. Did you find any downsides to this setup? I ask because the dealer who sold me the 9.9 said that he did not recommend dual controls because I would find it to be cumbersome controlling the main motor with the kicker in neutral.

Hydraulic hose length for Adventure 208 installation

Thanks. That is an option that I have been considering. Do you know if the installing the twin controls is a do it yourself install or is this something I would need a real boat mechanic to do?

Hydraulic hose length for Adventure 208 installation

That explains why the boat looked like new in the photo - it was. I appreciate the info on kicker mount but not quite sure where you are referring to as far as rail mount.. Did you mount anywhere shown in this photo?

Hydraulic hose length for Adventure 208 installation

Thanks again. Boat looks to be in great shape. I will look to install in same spot. I also have to figure out where to install controls for the 9.9 Yamaha High Thrust kicker moto that I bought over the winter. My plan is to use an EZ Steer to tie both motors together for trolling.

Hydraulic hose length for Adventure 208 installation

Thanks for the information and links. The consensus is that 20' hoses are required for the hydraulic steering install but I did not even think to ask about the AP motor hoses so great catch on that.

Hydraulic hose length for Adventure 208 installation

Thanks much. Initial question for you - where did you mount the AP motor and computer and do you recall how long of hydraulic hoses you needed to connect the AP motor to the helm pump?

Hydraulic hose length for Adventure 208 installation

Thanks. I never even considered an upgrade to tilt steering as part of the hydraulic upgrade. My purpose of converting is mostly to enable me to also install an hydraulic Autopilot system with a remote control for Lake Erie trolling.
