    1992 Grady-White 246g Explorer

I sent you a PM over on THT when I saw your post about this. I know you were debating parting it out or selling as a complete package. If you do decide to part it out, please let me know.

1993 GW Seafarer 228 and what to look for.

Not sure where you are located, but I picked up a 1988 242(bracketed) with a less than 200 hour 4 stroke for 13k a year ago. I think he is waaaay over priced at 15

    Updating 1988 242G

Installed the fusion, amp, and 2 of the 4 Rockford fostgate 6.5’s I picked up. Sounds great with just 2 so pumped to hear it when I get the other two in. Side note, never buying a boat that doesn’t have a stereo and speakers already installed. Very itchy this evening. Was glad to see the plywood...

    Updating 1988 242G

Found a very lightly used fusion RA70 and a nice Rockford Fosgate 400watt 4 channel marine amp on marketplace for $200. Picked up 4 6.5” Rockford fosgate M0 series speakers and an amp wiring kit and 100ft of speaker wire. I’m hoping to get down there Wednesday and put a few holes in the boat…..

Fortunately I’m a lousy fisherman. Love it, but terrible at it haha. In all seriousness, that’s a good point I didn’t think about. And the overthinking continues……

    Updating 1988 242G

Looking for input. Was out last weekend and forgot the Bluetooth speaker. I have been wanting to add a sound system for a while now so I think that was a sign. At least that’s what I told my wife;) nothing crazy just a basic fusion Bluetooth head unit with 4 decent speakers. Looking at the...

    Updating 1988 242G

Forgot to add, not necessarily a boat upgrade, but took advantage of the boat being off the trailer and added new leaf springs and hubs. Would like to add new brakes to the trailer but it wasn’t in the budget. The hubs I added will allow me to add brakes later on if I decide to do so.

I appreciate the sentiment. I love a good project of any kind but have always had an affinity for working on boats. It’s been a fun ride so far, pun intended! I noticed on my last few trips that I was getting some water coming through my starboard scupper. Didn’t think much of it, just used a...

Took my kids and my nieces out to dinner tonite in ocean city. They had a blast swimming in the river and my nieces thought it was the coolest thing to be able to go to a restaurant by boat. Wasn’t quite dark yet but snapped a couple pics of the led’s when they all went inside to test them out...

    Updating 1988 242G

Haven’t tackled the wood project just yet. I tend to over research and over think every project I get into so still trying to figure out the best way to wrangle that pig. I did replace both nav lights and for whatever reason I had no anchor light or even a trace of where the original one was...

    Updating 1988 242G

I'm taking some friends out today so I’m going to bring my wood conditioning oil that I use on my homemade cutting boards and see what that does to it. But does anybody have any tips/tricks/advice on bringing the wood trim and cabin doors back to life?

    Updating 1988 242G

Moved the boat down to my parents house on the lift. Been using it pretty frequently this spring. The floor has gotten pretty dangerous when wet due to the factory nonskid worn down to nothing. Went with TotalBoat TotalTread in beige. Did the dash area in TotalBoat Wet edge in off white. Pics...

    Updating 1988 242G

Yeah, one of my previous boats was a mako that had a notched transom. Always made me nervous when that splashwell would fill up. Had a dusky after that. Decided I was never going back to an open transom again after realizing how much safer I felt with my kids on board with a bracket...

    Updating 1988 242G

Got out yesterday for the first trip of the year with the kiddo's. Nice to have a solid floor to walk on. I did the oil change/gear oil change last week so I was glad to see the engine didn't miss a beat. Always a little nervous about that on the first trip of the year. No fish but was a...

    Seafarer 228 Transom Rot?

My 1988 242 (bracketed offshore) has a solid transom.

Clearly I know nothing about wiring

My starboard nav light is blown out too. Can you send me the link for the one you bought?

    Updating 1988 242G

Yeah.....I found that out the hard way. I made a bonehead mistake when I bedded the core down too. I used my big RTIC 145 with my generator on top. I didn't think about the cooler having the Rubber Feet so there was minimal pressure in the middle. If you look close in the pic, I had to drill...

    Updating 1988 242G

Well, she is in. I took DennisG's advice and didn't take the core all the way to the edge. I also mixed up a batch of peanut butter and put it anywhere a screw would penetrate to hopefully avoid any potential water intrusion into the panel. I got it back in the boat and bedded in with 3m...

Jumping out of my skin - anyone else?

Calling for 75 and light winds here in Ocean City, MD this Sunday. I'll be out flounder fishing with the kiddo's for my first trip of the year!
