    Outboard questions Offshore 24

If you are going to rack up a lot of hours, you may want to lean toward the E-TEC. The 300 hour service interval may save you from having to haul the boat several times a season. I'm biased toward the Evinrude as I own them. I don't think that there are any bad engines out there, but for a...

    '86 Sailfish repower options

It sounds to me that the HPDI's will make more sense financially - assuming that they check out OK. Even if you have to throw a few bucks into them to make them perfect, it seems like a no brainer. I would also verify that the engines are counter rotating. If they came from a CAT hull, they...

    Sailfish Winterizing

When I winterized my washdown/livewell, I just disconnected the hose leading up to the pump and stuck it into a gallon of pink antifreeze. I ran the pump until pink came out of the live well valves and the washdown spigot. I then reattached the hose. It only cost me about $4 and took about...

    Is THT Down?

I'm glad others are having problems too :-) I was beginning to think that my wife was blocking my boating and fishing websites.

    Generator install on 282 Sailfish

The portable generator probably makes the most sense. I too bought the Honda EU2000i generator. Unfortunately, I haven't used it yet on the boat, but it starts easily and is very quiet. I bought mine from wisesales (on the web). It was less than $900 shipped when I bought it.

    82 Grady Bimini Advice?

I had an '81 and it was a good boat. The 2 major things you will want to have inspected are the fuel tank, which is probably at the end of it's useful life (unless it was replaced) as well as the transom. The transom was "capped" with a piece of aluminum and the fiberglass underneath wasn't...

    1982 Bimini

Ray, I had an '81 with a '93 Evinrude 300 OceanPro on the back. This was my first boat and I ran it for 2 years. One of the major differences with this boat and the Seafarer is the walkaround. On the Bimini, the walkaround is at gunnel height and on the Seafarer, it is lower. I was very...

    STAMAS VS GRADY WHITE

You've got a very touch choice to make as they are both excellent boats. I recently sold my 22' Grady and purchased a '93 Stamsa Liberty 288. This is the same hull as their current 31', which has an 11'2" beam. I can tell you that the Stamas is a very solid boat and meets my family's needs...

    Honda Generator

I think that there are 2 models. One has 2 3 prong outlets like you have in the home. The other has 1 3 prong 20 amp and another 30 amp, which looks like a shore power plug. THis is what I found from the Honda site. http://www.hondapowerequipment.com/prod ... EU2000IAN1

    Honda Generator

Can we assume that you are referring to no air conditioning, but an A/C panel? Are you plugged into the shore power 30 amp inlet? Also, I believe that the Honda has 2 models - one with a 30 amp plug. Which one are you using?

    Cleaning Mold?

I also used the zep product from home depot. Just make sure that you wear old clothes because when it drips (and it will), it will ruin (bleach spots) your clothes. I would also recommend that you wear eye protection, just in case.

Docking Question ? Anybody use a wood Plank to get on Boat?

When I had my Grady, I used a 2 x 10 plank that I bought from Home depot. No need for anything fancy or pressure treated, just a plain old piece of wood. I rigged a piece of rope with a large loop on it on one end. This way, when it was on the dock, I could "snag it" with my boat hook. I...

E 10 , Old Gas, New Engine What Should I Do????

If the current engine runs, why don't you run it for a couple of trips to burn through most of the tank. This way, there will be little left to either siphon or mix with fresh gas.

That looks great. What made you think to go to a trophy shop to do the custom work? ... Brilliant. David

    sanded through gelcoat

If you have any 2 part barrier coat laying around, you may want to give that a shot. Since it is under the waterline, you just want to make sure that water can't get to the fiberglass under the gelcoat. David

    Yamalube or Evinrude oil

I am assuming that the 1998 is a carb motor. I've been running a '93 Oceanpro 200 with Penzoil Semi synthetic from walmart. The engine runs great. I also add Startron to my fuel at every fill up. In addition, a couple times a season, I add Evinrude Carbon Guard to the fuel. It is my...

Thing's to check on a "new" used Grady

A couple of other things to look at are the plastic through hull fittings as well as the plastic hoses. As these boats age, the through hulls can crack and let water into the bilge. Also, the hoses, especially if they are the cheap ribbed plastic ones will crack with age. Especially check...

using 4-bow vs 3-bow bimini for Tourney 19

I can't comment on which would be better, but I was very happy with the sunbrella top I got from http://www.gmitopdesign.com/page2-e-us.html It was much less expensive than any other options that I looked at. The quality was there also.

    Advice on buying 83' 204c Overnighter !!

I went through this "exercise" 2 years ago when I bought my '81 Grady. While the older boats can be great, they are not without potential issues. The first thing to look at would be the transom. It is not uncommon for water to get into the wood and rot it. I was lucky with mine, but decided...

    Batteries on 265

Thanks for the offer on checking out the generator. I will take you up on it before (or if) I buy one. I'd definately like to get your opinion on the Stamas I'm buying. I should probably have it in the water in mid April. I had to switch marinas since there were no more large slips available...
