trip from Cape Cod to Boston

Watch the west end of the canal especially if you've got a strong SW wind against a dropping (west) tide. I've been through 6-8 footers at that end and it's not fun.

    1970 atlantic weekender stringers

I've got a '78 Overnighter with a 115 Evinrude and it performs fairly well given the hull's weight and relatively low HP. She'll cruise at 22 knots and WOT is 26. When I bought the boat 3 years ago I thought it would struggle getting on plane but it actually pops up much quicker than expected...

    New England Boat Show

Jack and his father are first class guys. Regarding the 230 hull color, Jack told me that a shop down the road from GW does the paint job since GW doesn't have the equipment in house. It is a really sharp color.

    Need Your Thoughts-Yamaha Engine Recommendation

Congrats on the engine. As others have said, you are going to love it. They are a real workhorse with lots of midrange power. My father bought a rebuilt carb'd '97 for his 23' SeaCraft in '04 and after 600-700 hours it has been problem free.

1987 254 SAILFISH "JUMP N JACK" rear view

Thanks. The Sailfish is on my wish list for when I step up from the Overnighter. I really like the looks of the full transom on the I/O over the OB version. A guy I know had an '85 with a 454 and it ran great but sure was a pig on gas.

    Repower 204C with Yamaha F 115

I've got an old 2-stroke 115 Evinrude on a 204C. While it gets the boat up on plane much more effortlessly than I would have thought, cruise and top end are very limited (21-22 knot cruise, 25 knot WOT). The 4-stroke you're considering is newer and stronger so you may get better performance...

    Tough time fueling 84 overnighter

I had the same issue on my '78 Overnighter. The one and only time I filled it at the pump last season, no problem. Each time I fueled at the dock (keep it at a slip), it would back through the vent. I replaced all lines and even the vent itself last season, so I don't believe my problem is...

    Minimum hp for Dolphin 20

cerealdiet, I have a '78 Overnighter with an early 80's 115hp Evinrude. While I consider it underpowered, it moves along happily at 22 knots and runs 25 in the corner. I'm not going to win any races but that's about all the speed I'd run at even if I had a 200.

help with repower on older 208

I agree with captbone. My '78 204-C is rated for 230hp as well, but I'd never consider a big 4S on there due to weight. When my boat was built, a 200hp V6 was around 400lbs, significantly lighter than today's 4S motors. One thing I'm contending with too is the 20" transom height, which owners...

    '78 204-C Hatteras Overnighter

Here's a pic of my "new to me" '78 Overnighter. It's powered by an '83 Evinrude 115 that will be replaced soon. This is the only pic I have at the moment since it was covered up shortly after getting her home. [/img]

    More from 1964 and 2005

Nice boats. My father had a Hatteras back in '75 or '76. He used it only once after buying it before a guy came up to him at the ramp in Duxbury and offered him more than he had just paid for it. Needless to say, the boat was sold right away.

    20ft Overnighter with a single 120hp Force

I just joined the site since I recently purchased a '78 Overnighter. It has an older 115 Evinrude that the previous owner said performed along the lines of the above mentioned boat with the 120 Force. I tend to be a bit pessimistic and want to repower with at least a 150. The local G-W dealer...
