    Removing Fuel

I need to drain all of the old gas out of my 1990 Offhore 24'. What are the best methods for doing so? Any known places to dispose of in an environmentally friendly way?

    Trailering

Your state will have maximum width limitations based on both. Most states your boats beam limit is 8'6" and your trailer width max is 8'. Here is a good site that lists trailer and load width and lengths by state. http://www.towingworld.com/articles/TowingLaws.htm

Correct Prop size and pitch (Offshore 24)

I lost the prop on my 1990 offshore 24, the rig is powered by a Johnson 225 on a bracket. I am not sure of the original prop size and pitch. I was hoping some of you can make recomendations as to which prop I should look at. Thanks

Truck for pulling a 228 Seafarrer

My 1500 with the 5.7 tows my offshore at about 60 to 65 while taching about 3 grand while pulling about 8 to 9 miles to the gallon. I am not certain I would feel comfortable towing the 4.7. I have towed with the Ford 5.4 and it tows alright but there is a definate difference in the way the truck...

Cleaning non-skid sections of gel coat

The area that I am referring to specifically is the rough surface on the top of the gunnels; it looks more like sandpaper texture itself. This area seems like a harsh compounding will wear it smooth. I should have clarified that earlier, my apologies. Thanks

Cleaning non-skid sections of gel coat

I am working on restoring the original color and shine to my Grady and I am curious what others have done to restore the non-skid sections of the gel coat... My fear is that if I compound or polish too much that I will wear down the non-skid portions and make them smooth; definitely not...

Truck for pulling a 228 Seafarrer

I personally would hold off for one with the quad cab, you get more room for your family as well as the added wheel base for more stable towing...

    Best way to avoid porpoising

Do you have a whale tail (cavitation plate) on the motor? If you do you can also try to adjust it some. The trim options are the first source that I would check, I have seen many people have the motor trim and tabs work against each other, so play with both... If the trim doesnt work, it may...

Which Grady? 22' or 24' pre or post 92?

My 1990 offshore rides extremely well in seas not exceeding 5'. When you are going into a head sea you will get a little slap but I have experienced the same thing in the explorer model. I am hard pressed to believe that the Sea V2 hull makes much of a difference for the folks in the back of...

Removing the cheap look from my grady.

I appreciate all the info, thanks! I can definitely see the nostalgia is keeping things original but all of my faux wood is kind of chalky after the years and I guess being a young guy (26) drives a long way in me wanting to update the boat. Again, I appreciate all the info and eventually I...

Truck for pulling a 228 Seafarrer

I have an 04 dodge 1500 with the 5.7 hemi and pull a 1990 Offshore 24 with no problems. My general tow is anywhere from 35 to 45 miles through the hills of Austin, TX. At a minimum I tow it 200 miles to the coast 6 times per year. When towing to the coast I pull with empty tanks but to the lakes...

Removing the cheap look from my grady.

I am looking to modernize my 1990 Offshore. I may leave the teak doors since they are actual wood but all of the faux wood trim has to go. I was hoping that someone has done a similar project on their boat and would know where I could look for the trim, toe rails, gauge panel, and fuse panel...

weight of 1997 Yamaha Saltwater series II

If you still have you original engine on the boat just drop your boat in the water and sit on the engine cover. That should apply more than enough weight for you to measure the rear displacement you are going to get with a heavier motor.

weight of 1997 Yamaha Saltwater series II

I am not sure of the horse power you are looking at or have but for that boat, a 2-stroke in the 200 to 250 range would weigh in between 450 and 515 lbs. For a better estimate you can check out www.nada.com , they generally have good estimates of dry weight for both engines and boats.

    Please help....looking at 88 24' Offshore

I have a 1990 offshore powered with a 225 Johnson. The 225 gets the boat up and moving but you need to adjust both the outboards trim and trim tabs to get out of the water efficiently. I assume that a 250 would handle the job considerably better than the 225 so I would have no concerns in that...

    Towing weight for Seafarer 226

Point taken, however, it can seem a little scary to someone new to trailering to hear that their truck can only handle their load for a few miles. I do agree that it would always be nicer to have a bigger and better truck, but those without the cash to get that truck should not be...

    Towing weight for Seafarer 226

A half ton pick up is plenty of truck to pull that load. There is no need for anything bigger, it is already big enough. This boat weighs around 6,000 lbs, the half-ton is rated to tow around 9,000 lbs (Mine is). Question: If Tom has a TV stand that supports up to 90 lbs and buys a TV...

    Towing weight for Seafarer 226

When I first purchased a used Grady I had the same kind of questions (though I didn't quite have the luck in amount of responses as you). I tow a 1990 Offshore 242g with hard top, 150 gallons of gas, Ice, fishing gear, and enough beer to last a weekend fishing trip. All of this is settled on...

    Trailering an offshore 24

I have purchased an offshore 242g with hard top and Johnson 225 sitting on a galvanized ez-loader trailer. Problem is that the boat is in Pensacola Fl and I live in Austin, TX. With that being said, I have a 2004 Dodge 1500 4X4 with a 5.7 in it. I am confident that the engine will pull the...
