    265 Express Info

The cabin on the 232 vs the 265 is miles apart. Personally I don't like the bunks on the 232. I loved the berth on the 265 .... I used to put queen sized sheets on the cushions. Tons of space. The enclosed bathroom is a big huge plus. Overnighting on the 265 is fantastic...

    Fluke

I didn't want to derail the "Regulations for Fluke 2009" thread so I'm starting my own. My best memories ... my ALL TIME best memories ... are fishing for fluke with my daddy out of Montauk Point. Tied with that is catching blue claw crabs on a killie ring (with chicken necks !) off the...

had to replace ours also - it was actually simple and not as "dirty" as you might think it would be

Noticeable lack of chatter on new boat purchases this year!

We've done some reprioritizing around here also. I've done little things to save money here and there - back to clipping coupons, arranging the weeks dinner menu around what is on sale at the grocery store, etc. We're also underbudget on our boating expenses, mostly because offshore trips...

    Wide beam models? (and LOA)

True but the cabin is a completely different config on those two boats. The 265 has a nice queen size berth and a separate enclosed stand up head. Both of those were important to me when picking a boat.

    Sharks!!

GT - you need to write a book ! Great story - LOVED the writing style. I was pumped and laughing at the same time (the "lunatic humans and murderous shark" bit STILL has me laughing - and I've read that piece 5 times !)

I've caught my share of bonnetheads - does that count ??? "Boys, oh boys... I think he's come back for his noon feeding. "

trickle down economics helps boat builders

No disrespected meant - I'm really trying to reconcile this in my head before I vote. If taxes are reduced for 65% of people (which is what I think the Obama 95% turns into once you exclude the folks who pay no tax currently) and those 65% of people spend that money, how does that compare to...

    Boat Transport

I wanted a quote to ship my 265 Express to a potential buyer. I called Grady White and asked them for a recommendation based upon my specific from / to locations. Their recommendation was PERFECT - we had a nice conversation and I'd trust the company with the boat.

Best GW, Trailerable, Off Shore, Post SeaV2

I have a 265 Express and trailer it. Its heavy but we pull it with a 4WD Ram 1500 - definitely at the max for the truck. If you have bigger truck I wouldn't hesitate to tow it. Its wide so it takes a little getting used to and may need a permit depending upon where you live but the...

Survey: Is The Capital Meltdown Affecting You?

I'm in my mid 40s. I've been worried poopless the past week or so. I work for a wall street bank - can't say its a very secure job market ! So I did a 40 year financial plan. I always assume that my stocks will go down 10 - 15% when I do these plans. Boat is paid for, no credit card...

    Cleaning Gradys..

BTW I LOVE Barkeepers Friend. I use it on my pots and pans with every use. Darned things look brand new. I hope there's not a risk to using it that frequently - I noticed a post above talked about using it a few times a year.

    OVERLOOKING THE OBVIOUS

My husband did the lanyard thing once (actually twice - two different boats). When he did it with the 265 he could not for the life of him understand how BOTH engines went sour at the same time. I had a feeling it was something simple - and if not, then I was going to buy a few lottery...

    Cleaning Gradys..

A neglected 265 - it breaks my heart. Boat is on the side of the house, on a trailer. Exterior, including hull, gets washed (with soap) after every outing. Deck gets washed again if it gets overly dirty. Interior gets wiped down after every trip. Bunk gets Fabreeze. All pillows...

    Great weekend on the water

Unfortunately Gustav kept me off the water this weekend but I know exactly how you feel. I was terribly nervous overnighting on the boat the first time but I'm over it now and I can't wait to do it again - there's just no better feeling of freedom. I used to own a log cabin in the mountains...

    265 Express vs 282 sailfish

I dont think there is a wrong decision either way. The 265 is not in the current Grady catalog because they stopped making it in 2005. I believe the lack of teak and the lack of a table in the cabin made it "too much" of a fishing boat for many families to consider. The closest...
