I need to re power and am seriously looking at the suzuki 300hp. I know that G/W is partial to Yamaha and the Yamaha is a great product line. I've owned many Yamaha outboards and still own one on another boat this very day.
What I'd like is some very factual info on the zuke 300hp outboard...
BobP, First alittle background. I am a professional pilot having flown professionally for over 36 years and have logged over 18,000 hrs of flying time. This alone does make me an oil expert, but I will tell you this:
All commercial grade aircraft flying today use synthetic oil. All...
OK BobP, you win and I won't argue with you over what you beleive.....
As for Capt CMG, amsoil is exactly what I have used exclusively for over 15 years. Greatest oil product around, by far. Call them up and they will offer you the warranty you need if you document and use their oil. I use...
If you think Ring Free is the best way to go, then by all means..........go ahead. I'm just saying that ring-free is not needed using synthetic oil, whether it is auto injection or mix. Synthetic oil is by far superior no matter how you look at it. It will "NOT" void any waranty by using it...
Think about why ring free is need and recommended by yamaha and other engine manufactures. It is because old traditional oils are paraffin/mineral based. These oils cause piston rings to eventually burn and stick togather due to the carbon deposites created during the firing/burning process of...
For what it is worth......... I have a 1997 yamaha 115 bought new. Once past break in period of 10 hours, I began using synthetic oil (amsoil) exclusively. No ring free or any other additives.
My certified outboard mechanice gives it a thorough going over every two years. Perfect motors...
OK guys, thanks for the great "buying advice." Now let's get back to the 300hp E-TECH. Good engine or bad engine for a Grady. What is the word out there on the E-TECH engines...........
It's really too bad that this post got turned into an argument about single vs twins. This was not the point of the post. I AM SOLD ON THE ASPECT OF A SINGLE ENGINE vs TWINS..............to me it's obvious! I just wanted to know the feelings about the Zuke engine and company sypport.
Chris A. I thank you very much for your candid advice. That was exactly what I was lookinfg for....... your honest opinion. Beleive it or not, I tend to have the same feelings as you do. Again, I appreciate your honest opinion. I am tired of flavored ones....
Anyway, I live in the Tampa...
Chris A. How do you feel about Suzuki out board motors in general as compared with Yamaha. Is the Suzuki outboard motor division up to speed with company support in case of problems and general help if problems develope. Yamaha has a great reputation with on going support after purchase...
I have a 1995 26 Islander and need to repower. I am planning on repowering with a Zuke 300hp (4-stroke). Any comments/opinions and general feelings would be greatly appreciated.......... good or bad! Thanks........
I have a 1995 Islander 26 with a 225 original Mercury. The motor pushes the boat just fine. In todays fuel environment, single engines are the way to go if possible. Grady says that this was a good option for this boat in 1995.
