232 TANK REPLACEMENT: deck flange trimming & cross bracing

Thanks to all for this helpful information. Comments: - cutting the tank instead may have been a viable option before I ordered the replacement per OEM drawings. Maybe a quick call Monday to the fabricator will reveal this option as being available. - neoprene stuck directly to the tank makes...

232 TANK REPLACEMENT: deck flange trimming & cross bracing

Re-coring deck over main gas tank and decided to change out the 27 year old tank despite the absence of a leak. Pulled the deck and notice right away that the cross-bracing 2x4's had about 1/2 - 3/4" clearance from the top of the tank. Thought that to be unusual since a tank I did on a...

228 seafarer wash down/live well handle

Change pump to dual outlet pump and add a second pump for the wash down. Make your connections accordingly. No need to make a second hole in bottom of boat. Good luck.

    1999 seafarer 228

I mounted mine all the way up (200HO Etec). Tops out at 41mph using 17pitch prop. Don't think you are going to gain much if anything.

what size fishfinder/plotter screen do folks like?

You should be able to buy 2 7" HDS units within you budget is you search. I Just sold for $300 a 'minty' 7" HDS unit with all wires but no ducer. So if you look around you can have bigger and be within budget.

BEST RIDING HULL BEYOND 232 SV2 HULL?

Bigger is bigger.. displacement is displacement.. I find that more and more I am picking my days when to go out. But if it is a borderline day, I will make every effort to be on the water but will take it slower and hopefully in a bigger rig.. Back 10yr or so, I jumped from a 228 to a 232 and...

    Repower or Rebuild??

Glad you are going the repower route. New is new and having the engines come alive every time after turning the keys both going and especially coming back from offshore has no price tag. You are investing in both your enjoyment and your safety. Congratulations..!

    Repower or Rebuild??

    Fuel line may be bad

On/Off is made of 3 different types of acid all three may have reactive effects with metal yielding caustic vapors or compounds that are not rubber friendly. Those lines owe you nothing. Change is a good thing.. :) Also most tank failures develop in the bottom of the tank and given that the...

1986 Seafarer 228 control cable length?

Grady used a 22' cable for the 228. Some people go longer (24') and make a loop inside the boat. Your 22' should be fine.

    Anyone running E-tec

By the way, WOT 42.7 @5600RPM. Hard top=yes; bottom paint=yes ( and in smooth very very good condition; hope yours is the same because it really helps with the MPG.) And yes you very well may be underpowered. Good luck!

    Anyone running E-tec

You will love the motor. I have been running the 300hp for 5 years on a 232 and it has been great. Fuel ecomomy jumped 39% going from the Yamaha 250hp that was on it previously. Enjoy it..!
