    1990 Gulfstream 232 seats

I need to replace both seat cushions on my 1990 Gulfstream. I'm sure I can get new ones made or modify some I buy off-the-shelf but if I can find the right fit I'd prefer to do that. Can someone tell me who manufactured the seats on my boat?

    Oil in 2-stroke exhaust

To wrap this up I took the boat to a local mechanic I trust and my suspicions were confirmed. The motor was running rough because there was a bunch of crud in the exhaust, since the exhaust was somewhat blocked the engine ran rough, couldn't burn the oil, and spit it out. The crud consisted of...

    Oil in 2-stroke exhaust

Everything you say is true. I could walk behind my Yamahas while running; this Johnson ruined my white vinyl fence in minutes. I let it go for a while but it didn't get better. It's not just smoke, it's spitting a lot of oil. Just thinking about it gives me a headache. I might just have to...

    Oil in 2-stroke exhaust

:-) No, I've never actually run a 2-stroke next to a white fence before. And you can bet your bottom dollar I never will again. But I have run my Yamahas and I have walked behind the motors while running. I wouldn't do that with this motor.

    Oil in 2-stroke exhaust

I'm trying to brainstorm this until I get to the boat again. I don't claim to be a 2-stroke expert but I've had a few and I've run them from the earmuffs, believe me, this is too much oil in the exhaust. Yes, it has the oil injection system. I did check the oil in the tank, I can't vouch for...

    Oil in 2-stroke exhaust

I know there will be oil in the exhaust; I've had Evinrudes and Yamahas and none of them spit out this much oil. However, you could be right about trying it in the water. I don't know about running it in a tank, as I say, there's a lot of oil coming out so I don't know if I should recirculate...

    Oil in 2-stroke exhaust

I got conned into checking my neighbor's 1997 Johnson 2-stroke, 115 HP Ocean Runner. It starts right away but runs rough and spits oil out the exhaust as witnessed by my no longer white vinyl fence. It has gotten almost no use in years so I'd expect smoky exhaust but this is spitting oil...

    Gulfstream 232 Motor Bracket

If it were all closed cell foam I wouldn't be worried about it. There are at least two different kinds of foam in there, it definitely was not a professional job. At least some of what I can reach is waterlogged, more like a sponge than foam. Although it is rainy season here in South Florida...

    Gulfstream 232 Motor Bracket

I really, really don't want to remove the bracket. However, I've found the bracket is full of foam and styrofoam and I'd like it gone. Apparently the bracket is divided into 3 sections? I've been able to check the center section using a light at night; I placed a drop light in the bracket and...

    Gulfstream 232 Motor Bracket

My bracket has 3 inspection plates, I'm going to replace one of them with a screw-type deck plate. I did find two large blocks of foam when I opened up the bracket. Don't know if they are factory but I have read that some boats have them. I have the water drained but of course the foam is...

    Gulfstream 232 Motor Bracket

I thought I did a pretty good job of prepping and painting last time but not so. This time I'll take the aluminum bracket down to bare metal. The Petit product, is it the 6544? There is no sign that there was ever a zinc between my two motors.

    Gulfstream 232 Motor Bracket

Recently pulled boat because marina removed power while they repair sea wall. At some point, after heavy rain storms, the batteries gave up and the aft was partially submerged. After pumping out transom I realized it was still sitting low in the water and found the bracket full of water...

    Motor Bracket Leaking?

Thanks Ron. I'm going to open the access plate to see if there's water in there and I suspect there is. I'll make sure it's sealed properly then. I wonder if a previous owner might have drilled a hole through the back of the transom and penetrated the bracket box. If that's true it wouldn't...

    Motor Bracket Leaking?

I have a Gulfstream, 23' with twin Yamaha 150s on a bracket. Last week during several days of heavy rain both of my bilge pumps quit and the boat filled with enough water to fill the bilge and put about 12" of water in the cabin. In the end there was very little damage, two waterproof fuse...

    Bennett Automatic Trim Tab Control

Both good ideas. I've tried the Pompano and West Palm Marine Flea Markets but the Dania one is better. Also tried Sailorman. Will try the place in Fort Pierce. Thanks.

    Bennett Automatic Trim Tab Control

I've been communicating with them; they helped me determine the problem. However, they can't supply the part so their suggestion is to try to find someone with the old system/parts or replace the entire system with the newest model. Their customer service has been terrific I gotta say.

    Bennett Automatic Trim Tab Control

I have a 1990 Grady with the Bennett ATC system. It appears that my CPU module is bad and Bennett no longer carries parts for the system. Anyone know where I might be able to find the IC 2110 CPU module?

Grady drive corrosion and soda blasting questions??

I pulled my 232 Gulfstream and have spent several days prepping the aluminum motor bracket for painting. I found a lot of new corrosion and quite a bit that was painted over by the previous owner. I think it's in pretty good shape now and I'm ready to prime and paint. I've read here that some...

    Outboard Motor Bracket Gel Coat

Well now boat is out of the water and the issue is easy to spot. It is definitely a heavy paint, probably epoxy, over aluminum. The amount of chipping and corrosion is worse than I expected but I'm scraping and sanding to get down to bare metal. I've learned enough to know I'll then use a...
