C 120 what is going on here?

My DSM 30 did similar things due to voltage problems-- and the 'NUB" on mine wasn't even broken - just a bad connection in the DSM. replaced it under warranty and now, voila...no issues.

    more confused then ever

If you have room, why not get a single 12" MFD? Unless you're headed offshore for days or conistently are 40 miles or so offshore, redundant systems (IMHO) are not worth the effort. Bring a handheld GPS as backup of course.

    repower 1998 voyager

I have a '97 voyager and have thought about repowering, but my OX66 just keeps ticking.... I'm in the Pacific NW and we all commonly have a low HP "kicker" motor for trolling for salmon at 3 kts or so. I have a 250 main and a 9.9 high thrust kicker. In calm seas, slack current with 3 dudes...

    Dual battery question

If you have a single engine and dual batteries, best thing to do is to isolate a start battery and a house battery. Buy a compatible switch and VSR (voltage sensing relay) ... you will completely isolate your start battery from your electronics, and, guarantee (if installed properly) that you...

    New GPS/Sounder Combo????

I did a flush mount on my Voyager. Do some searches on here for flushmounting - alot of guys have done it. You can remove the black lexan door and cut out some starboard. I used 1/2" starboard in the offwhite color and it matches grady gelcoat perfect. I cut the outside to size and then...

I might need a new trim/tilt motor!! Help!

If you got water in your system, there is a good chance it is shot and will need either a rebuilt or relpacement. Replacement cost is like you said $3k in parts...but the book labor to install it is only 2 hours! With rebuilt, you'll save probably $500 - $1000 overall, but you're getting...

    Voyager 248

I've got a 1997 Voyager with an OX66 250. I have the aux tank and routinely run fairly heavy. I have no hardtop but I have a radar arch and radome etc. I agree that if you run with alot of fuel and gear, the 225 might be underpowered.....I think the 250 is a great fit. I run cruise on my...

    Filling Freshwater Tank....WTF?

Thanks all to those who responded. Ken, what you mention is what I was thinking....in fact, talked with my buddy about it, who is a civil engineer. A garden hose will only push water so high.... Here is what I did: I installed a new fill hose. a bit crude, but all I do now is pop open the...

    Filling Freshwater Tank....WTF?

No, none right now. All of my access to the water tank to date has been through the 6" beckson access panel on the forward section of the forward bilge cover. I loath cutting that caulking and having to re-do it. My aft inspection cover is removed right now and I have to get it re-installed...

    Filling Freshwater Tank....WTF?

Well, I thought that too, but the fill hose is huge...its not like there is no room for air to come back. I think that there is not enough water pressure to get the water "up the hill" so to speak from the fill mouth down into the tube and back up again. Anyhow - I will double check the vent...

    Filling Freshwater Tank....WTF?

Ok, so I'm a bit embarassed about this, but here goes: Got my boat last year. 1997 Voyager. Freshwater tank had water in it..... Last summer, my freshwater transom shower started "sputtering".....so I figured it was empty. Took a garden hose to the filler, which is on the base of the port...

Missing Flanges on Thru-Hull Fittings- 1988 Seafarer

Replace hoses too...or at least check them. My new to me 1997 Voyager aft bilge pump thru hull broke out when I yanked on it (not very hard). Then, i bent the bilge hose and after one back and forth it disintegrated in my hands. After that, I yanked on every thru hull I could get to, and...

Mounting Scotty Downriggers on a 226/228

No question on swivel base.... I've got them mounted as far aft as practicable on my voyager. Makes turning easier. I don't have backing plates, but I did use as big of a fender washer on each screw as I could get in there. I even ground one side down a bit so it'd fit in.

Rebuild Trailer with Upgrade or Buy New?

I don't know how handy you are, but this sounds like something you could do fairly economically if you did alot of the work yourself. The Kodiak brake kits I think are around $500 or so...but I could be wrong. Doing that and the rollers can't be as much as the trailer... I think if the...

    New Grady Owner

Great Boat! Congratulations! I bought my 1997 Voyager 248 w/ an OX66 on it last year....used, from southern cali, sight unseen! I've done a ton of upgrading and maintenance to it in the last year, including alot of engine servicing (VST, low pressure pumps, thermostats etc)....so let me know...

    Best prices on Navionics?

Virtually impossible to find any good prices other than MSRP. Just find a place with no markup, but most places don't make any money on selling these, since Navionics marks them up so much. I just bought a Platinum Plus Wide and it was $250 plus tax. I guess you could order over the net and...

Additional Tackle Storage on GW 248 Voyager

Anyone install aftermarket flush mounted tackle drawers on their Voyager or Journey? If so, curious where you put it, what product you used, and how the install worked out. I was thinking that I could remove the backrest cushion for the transom seat and install it there (no-one ever sits there...

    source for dash material

Starboard in the color "seafoam" matches the grady gelcoat almost perfectly. It comes in different sizes and thicknesses. I used it to flushmount my electronics and it is great. HOwever, nothing sticks to it well, so you have to secure it with fasteners/screws.

    Freshwater System Problem - '97 248 Voyager

Anyone know if there is a check valve in between the freshwater tank and the pump on a '97 GW 248? I bought my boat last year and freshwater worked fine. Now, it doesn't work well at all. The pump runs constantly (won't pressurize) and when I push the button on the handle, it spurts small...
