    Hatch Blemishes ?

I have seen the same thing in Gradys I have been looking at. The Gelcoat was very thick, seems like a flaw on Gradys end during production. Probably used a stiff gelcoat and seeing that there is a thick layer on over time it makes sense that it would crack and leave those issues.

    268 w/ 250 ox66

I have been shopping 268s and the 248s pretty hard the last few months and I usually see them outfitted with twin 200s on the 268 and twin 150s or 225-250 single on the 248s. I have come across another 268 but it powered by a single 250 ox66 2001yr. Is this too little HP? Has anyone been on one...

    Help! Choosing Between Boats

Im in the same boat as OP, get on a plane and go check out the boats! I just flew into Virginia from Ohio on Tuesday and am at the airport now to head home. Over the week I saw the boats I wanted to plus about 6 more that I saw just driving through north carolina. You want to get your eyes on...

    268 hull bubble

The point does not flex at all... transom has no signs of cracking or stress, the starboard side does not have this. Engines are twin 200s, took to a glass repair shop and he said it does not look like delam after using a Teflon hammer on the inside and out. Not sure on repair job gone bad, but...

No flex at all, when i ran my hand over it it was smooth and almost rounded. But it does not give or flex any more than the surrounding hull. Thanks for the input.

    268 hull bubble

I am looking at a 268 islander, 1995 and today when doing a seatrail the boat ran great, engines clean as a whistle and fired right up after sitting for over a month of no use. After we pulled her out I was doing a hull inspection and noticed this raised area on the port stern area of the hull...

Another amazing product is FSR (fiber glass stain remover) West Marine carries it. It is a blue gel that will remove about anything from your gel coat. Heed the wear gloves warning though!!

    spider/ stress cracks in 268

I am looking at a 1995 268, there is spidering in the gel coat around the hatches inside the boat (livewells, back seat, cabin doorway), some deep enough to fit a finger nail in. Can anyone tell me if this is expected since it is a 15YR boat? I spoke to Grady and asked if maybe they used a...

    Grady hardtop view

I was wondering how the tower on the hardtops for Gradys obstructs the view of the driver. I have been on some boats with hard tops and the tower bars really made the view annoying.

    248 voyager scuppers

BTW we are on fresh water, salt water has a higher buoyancy so boats will sit higher. Anyone on fresh water experience this?

    248 voyager scuppers

When on our sea trial yesterday we had 5 people on the boat, when we where all on the scuppers where about 1-2" below the water line which did push some water up into the boat. When everyone was out of the boat at dock the scuppers where above the water line. Is this the norm?

Ready to buy my new boat... but what? Input needed

Back, boat tested out great, there was 2-3 and sloppy and this boat just pushed through it cruising about 28mph. Max RMP about 5600 and that took us to 47mph. The boat is very clean and runs like a champ, I cant believe how fast this got on plane from a dead start. We had 5 people on the boat...

Ready to buy my new boat... but what? Input needed

GW to add to your post saying 28.9 is to high, what would you estimate this boat value. To me the negatives are no trailer ($2800), no hard top ($7500 after all options and shipping are calculated). My initial bid I was thinking in the $19k area and go from there. Granted this is a fresh water...

    product for cleaning hull

FSR - Fiberglass stain remover.. works amazingly well. I am on Lake erie and live by this stuff, removes discoloration, stains, seaweed etc etc... very little effort to use this stuff, no harsh abrasives. I get it at West Marine, its a blue gel. Hope that helps!

Ready to buy my new boat... but what? Input needed

I agree the 28.5 is WAY high, going in with a much lower offer. The owner of the Marina is a family friend so I don't see him BSing, he is getting me a copy of the original survey and I will be getting one myself as well. Sea trial in 5hrs.. feel like a kid on xmas morning haha.
