I recently a 1986 24 offshore with twin 150 yamahas. I took notice the grady drive engine bracket is started to show signs of corrosion and pitting. The bracket still seems solid yet. I would like to clean all the bottom paint off then wire wheel it. I know the bottom paint has to be copper free. What can i use to fill in the pitted areas?

Similar situation here, 1989 sailfish with 2003 hpdi 150's. I was wondering about using my sandblaster on the aluminum bracket. Sand or beads? I'm thinking of getting a pro to do the painting after I clean it up, not sure if I want bottom paint on the bottom part of the bracket or not since it will sit on a trailer.

Do a search on bracket repair. There was a HUGE discussion about a few years ago. One of the posters was a marine mechanic/boat builder and had some strong views about repair vs replacement.
