Bought this old tournament as somewhat of a project... clean hull, older than the boat but solid old Johnson, and some fun for the summer. Rewired The console, electronics, and gauges, planning to put a newer outboard on for next season or this summer if I can find a decent 20” shaft 150+ - thinking of it as a bit of a restomod.

Thanks! Anyone in NE or Mid Atlantic see or find a decent 20" shaft 2 stroke, I hear they can be hard to find!

Okay... have to say it.. awesome boat.. clean as a whistle... I am not a fan of older boats...clearly bad luck heh.. but you sure do have a beautiful one there. Only one problem, I see no fish.. go find some and post more pictures ;)

If it were MY boat.. well, first off... it would be in the driveway.. lol.. but, I would move the patch panel to the right of the wheel, and make room for a 2nd screen.. just me.. I envy that amount of room there on the dash :p

If it were up to me it would still be in the driveway (updating that dash panel again to a different layout now that I've done it once! Been out fishing, nothing worth sharing yet, but we'll get there! Currently outboard is I think finally done - I've killed an old Johnson. Won't idle well and likes to cut going in to gear. All new since replacing the fuel pump, ball and hose, and plugs. Going to have a mechanic look it over, but on the hunt now for a decent outboard that won't break the bank. Happy for a 25" on a bracket at this point so I can hopefully get a bit more time out there this summer.

We had a mid-80s Tournament when I was growing up. Great boat and we had a lot of fun on it. I wish they still made that model. We just put a deposit on a Fisherman 180. I am a bit nostalgic getting a Grady of my own. Should be here mid/late April. We'll be doing mostly river and bay fishing/boating on the gulf coast of Florida. Can't wait.

Been a while since an update, so I thought I would drop a few photos in. Old Johnson died at the end of the first summer and had to be replaced. Still need cushions so the wife will be happy, and I think the stripe may go back on, although I was considering a wrap maybe - tan or light blue below the swage line. Will see. Either way, found the Yamaha out of dumb luck out of lake winning pesaukee with 89 hours on it, like new. Used Bobs jack plate as I'd seen someone do on here or hull truth with on an old tournament and Johnson. Two years with the new motor, lots of adventures, and still solid! Replaced the old cable steering just this season with hydraulic, world of difference.
