1988 Grady White Seafarer with 2004 Optimax

I'm looking at a 1988 Grady White Seafarer with a 2004 Optimax on a bracket.

Motor seems solid but I'm worried about the 20 year old hull. Anyone have any experience with this boat? Is this a cored hull or solid glass? Of course I'd have a good survey done prior to purchase.

Hi, I purchased a 1989 228g last year, for a 20yr old boat it was solid as a rock. The surveyor used two moisture meters on the hull and was dry thru-out and told me to not pass on this boat. It was in better condition than most 10yr old boats. This was my sixth boat and first Grady. Next boat is a BIGGER Grady. Like you said just have it surveyed so you can be assured it's in good condition. From what I've read on this forum, the 226 open transom have alot more of rot problems compared to the closed transom. Can't beat the extra room and livewell. Tony
