I have found a very nice well kept 1996 GW 209 Escape that was repower in 2007 with a 250 hp 4stroke. I believe that the 209 was rated at 230hp back in 1996, a 2stroke. I wonder whether anyone else has had experience going to a heavier 4stroke on this vintage 209? I have sea trialed this boat and was impressed with the performance of it despite the extra weight. The transom seems to handle it well and I could not find any stress cracks infront or behind the engine. Also, I wonder whether there are any insurance issues with a boat with more hp then its rated for. I know the new 209s are rated for 250hp. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
