I took my new to me 208 and my 2 sons down the Cooper River to visit Strikezone's town, Charleston, SC and spent the night. Docked her at the City Marina with the big girls but my little 208 held her own up against them.

Friday we went to Coast for dinner and Saturday explored the harbor, saw Manatees at Shem Creek, USS Yorktown at Patriot's Point. We tried to visit Fort Sumter but couldn't dock safely at low tide. Rode out to the jettys, up the Ashley, Wappoo Creek. Wonderful trip. The 200HPDI was great on fuel and oil and a lot faster at cruise than the F200 I used to own, just a bit louder. I never imagined I would like a hardtop as much as I do. Don't you just love boats, I mean Grady White boats?

Good luck but where is your anchor?

Brings up a good question, it is stored in the anchor locker. Never had a pulpit before. If I put it on the pulpit the chain is so long I don't see how to secure it without it beating around. Locker door won't close over the chain. How do you secure it?

I have the same problem with my anchor chain...too long and notch in locker door to small for the chain links.. I keep it in the locker also.

Storage in the anchor locker is appropriate and safe on that boat. We have the same locker on our 2002 Islander 270, and we used it all the time until I installed a windlass and a larger anchor.

BTW, congratulations on the - new - boat.

I installed a chain pipe deck fitting thru the center of the anchor hatch. This way I had the choice of leaving the anchor out on the pulpit or stowing it. Mostly leave it stowed when not in use since it ends up a hazard when docking. Good luck with your new boat.

Congrats on your new boat. Charleston is quite nice and we get out there from time to time myself. We cruised south on the ICW last time we were there in May and the Carolina coast sure is pretty. You gotta try taco boy either downtown or on Folly Beach, they got some good stuff. Enjoy your boat.
