Anyone on here Re power a 282 sailfish with inline 4 cylinder 200hp 4 stroke, Yamaha or Suzuki, just curious about the top end, cruising speed and fuel burn. I’m looking to Re power after this season . I’m currently running 200 hpdis

Did you ever get input?
I’m replacing my 2001 200hp HPDI’s w/ Yamaha 225hp units @ 551lbs each.

I never did get any input on that. I’m probably gonna repower with 225’s, or 6 cylinder 200 Yamahas.

I repowered my 94 27 Sailfish with the new Mercury V6 225's back in May. Cant say enough good things about these engines. Remarkable response to the throttles and an increase in fuel mileage from 1.0 to 1.5 mpg. And I think they look pretty sexy too.

I have 2013 Yamaha I4s on my ‘01 282 Sailfish. Cruise at 28mph burning 16gph 4100rpm. That is with full fuel and water, 100lbs of family “stuff” and 2 adults, 3 kids

I think you'll want at least 225HP 4 strokes. Those HPDI's probably have more low end grunt than a 200 hp 4S. I have a 2002, still with original F225's, they are a fantastic match but i wouldn't want any less. Especially getting up out of the hole. I run the 15 1/4 X 19's.

Are those the 200hp ? How is the water line to the scuppers?

Did you adjust the scuppers ?

Didn't have to adjust the scuppers. Even though I added a couple hundred pounds of engine weight, I lost about 60 lbs of engine oil, tanks and hoses. Scuppers are still an inch or two above the water.

I am hearing allot of good reviews on those Mercury V6's, lots of power, and almost a hundred pounds apiece less weight.

The only bad thing I’ve heard about them is the year plus wait! They would be awesome on my 265 Express.
