Did Grady do any major hull or transom redesigns on the 330 Express from 2004-2008? It is my understanding that the new Yam 300's V6 are OK to put on the back of a 2004 -2006 model. We found a boat we like but are looking at the possibility of repowering an older model. Anyone have any suggestions or feedback?

the 2008 was redesigned and included structural changes for the V-8's.

GW told me that the older hulls can utilize the new V-6's at their hp ratings. it would be a good idea for you to hear it right from them though. good luck, ron

Thanks. We plan to reach out to them tomorrow. The windshield isn't a big deal since we are both 6'4. In fact, we'd prefer the windshield to be higher :). Thanks again!

the windshield on the 2008's and forward are higher. prior models are a little lower.

I have a 2003 that I am going to repower in the fall with F300's. The official word from Grady is that it is only rated for 500HP . In 2003 the bigest Yamaha engine made was the 250 so no need for a higher horse power rating. The following year they came out with the 300 two stroke and the rating was raised to 600. Due to liability they arent going to say it is OK for the 300's.(I was at the factory Monday and asked that question). I know of a couple of 2002-2003 that have been repowered with 300 Suzukis and I met a guy in the Abaco's that had 350's on his 2002. He has had them for a couple of years with no structural problems. Grady did some structural changes for the 350's when they came out.The other changes they made have been in the helm area raising the seating and raising the windshield. There are some great deals on some older 330's due to the fact that they need to be repowered. A set of F300's are going to be around 40K .

i think the key question to ask GW is "Were there any structural changes to the 330 between the 2003 and 2004 model years?" if yes, what were they?

that should get you comfortable with an F300 repower without them saying it outright.

I have a 2007 and it is rated for 600hp which is probably the prefered power. My 250s do fine, but 225s might not be enough. Good Luck!

Thanks all! The boat we are looking at now is a 2008 with 350s. If we don't get this one or one similar, we are going to look for a 2004 to 2008 with 250s and sell those and reposed with the new 300 v6s.
