Have been having trouble with the plastic locks , have tried lubrication, when I put key in and turn it removes the core, what are people using for replacements

I had the same trouble, I gave it some WD40 and then the insides came out when I turned the key. After playing with the pieces for a while I got it to start working right.
Can't remember exactly but there was a trick with turning the key and holding the catch.
