I just purchased an '86 204 Overnighter about a month ago and need some info. I am looking to put a half tower on my boat, I am looking for an aluminum frame with a rag top to keep the weight down. I have thought about just putting an arch on it, but would rather have a full top. I have seen many pictures with half towers on them and they look great. So the question is, where can I get one? I live in Michigan, so any place outside of Michigan would have to ship, and shipping on something that size would be ridiculous. Where have you Grady owners gotten your after market half towers? Any pics would be great too!!

Welcome to the forum!

Sometimes they are called radar arches as well, and they do work and look great. Onoeric has one on his 208 here.

Unless you can find a fabricator locally that makes tuna towers for boats, which is not likely in MI, you'll need to have one shipped in. For a radar arch I would think it would be easy for them to make it three pieces so it could ship motor freight, maybe for a couple of hundred. I know an arch runs about $1200, and the other towers go up from there.

We have a few of these types of fabricators out here on the coast, so at least you can gather some info and maybe you would like to contact them to see what they could do for you. And there are some others on the east coast, I'll bet we can get some more posts here.

I had Redman marine In maine make me a hardtop and ship it to me in Illinois. It took a while to get but was worth the wait. Im sure they could build something for you. Mine fit like a glove, and the quality is second to none. No one here in the midwest does this kind of work. I did find someone out by lake Erie that would do the job but they want your boat out there to build and install it. Good luck with your quest. Joe.

Sorry I can`t help with the builders, but heres a pics of my 87 with a hardtop. I can take better pics if you`d like. Coming from a center console for the last 18 yrs, I`ve got 2 runs on this boat so far and welcome the shelter. :D The only issue I have is I`m tall and I bang my head on the overhead electronics box.

You say you want a half tower on a 20 footer? Never seen one with a crows nest up there.
I think you will flip out on a rock and roll.

Good Kodak moment!

No need for a crows nest here on the Great Lakes! I have been looking and have been in contact with a couple local shops that could possibly do something for me. Does anyone know what kind of price is reasonable for a quality job? Heck, if anyone has one for sale let me know!
