Goose. I’ll offer my two cents.
We were making a similar decision a while back. We had our 208 (same hull) for ten years and I had two-foot-itis and really liked the layout of the 228. Our dealer arranged a test ride and there was a light chop. The improvement in ride was immediately noticeable, but not what I would say was vastly superior - but better.
I guess I would say the ride over a 1'-2' chop was incrementally better - as you would expect. At least equal to the 10% increase in hull length, if not more.
We wound up with neither boat. Our dealer was also pretty shrewd. He just happened to bring along a 258. My wife was sold on the 258. Still, I really like the layout of the 228.
