24 Explorer Windlass Location

I'm trying to determine where to mount the windlass. Where are they mounted at the factory - on the pulpit, or aft of the pulpit on anchor locker door. For simplicity sake, it seems easier to mount on the pulpit, but I don't like the idea of loosing the lifting eye? Where are yours mounted??

Mine is actually located on a piece of starboard on the achor hatch which is sealed shut. Seems to work pretty well.

I mounted mine the same as the above post, over the deepest part of the locker. I removed the anchor locker access door and replaced it with a piece of 1" starboard in the Seafoam color, sealed it shut and drilled the holes accordingly. Works like a charm and still have the old door if needed.
