I have a quick question about my 1995 268 Islander. I did not have an am/fm radio installed when I purchased the boat and I' m in the process of installing one now. I'm cutting holes at the factory speaker locations (GW sent me the diagram last September) that shows the port cockpit speaker "Under deck wing shelf in precut facer board." After I drilled a small pilot hole, I stuck a small piece of wire through to check clearance on the back side and seemed to hit something right away. The speakers call for a 5" diameter hole and 2-3/4" of depth. My concern is there anything behind where I'm planning to drill that I should be concerned about hitting? Was the factory install using the "precut facer board" something different than the way my boat came without a stereo (i.e. was there a spacer that I don't have)? If anyone has the factory speakers installed, I'd really appreciate a picture of the port cockpit speaker location.
