282 OX66 225 Power?

Any body have a 282 with OX66 225's? Curious about fuel burn and speeds (cruise & max).

How would it compare to F225s?
 
I have a 265 Express w/ OX66 225's. The 282 is about 500 lbs heavier dry but I would think fuel burn numbers should be similar considering the difference in hull shape and fuel capacity. At 3800 - 4000 rpm's, (about 28 to 30 mph) I get 1.2 mpg. Flat out she'll do about 45-47 mph depending on conditions. I have heard the 225 four stroke guys are getting close to 2 mpg. Pretty big difference in my opinion, but I do like these OX66 motors - great power and torque, reliable, relatively easy to maintain. Hope this helps.
 
Yeah, thanks for the reply, it seems there arent alot of the 282's on used market with SX225's, most everying I see in my searches for 2000 and newer models have the F225's.

I had an SX200 on my previous SeaHunt, loved that motor, but that was on a Bayboat, that weighed probably a 1/4 of what a 282 does!!

My last boat (Sailfish2360) had an F250 and that was an AWSOME motor, never a single hiccup from it, economy was ....eh, 2.5 on avg.

Seems the F225's would be the best bet for a used model 282, but most everything out there is about 10k over what I want to spend.

My last boat, which I sold this past spring, was a 2001 282 with twin 225 OX 66's. What I found was that the fuel burn was similar to those that had four strokes, but the 4S didn't require any oil. The added expense was in the oil used, not really the fuel. I got about 1.6 mpg, an occasional 1.7 or 1.5. I thought it was a great set-up, quite peppy out of the hole and pretty fast. I don't recall the exact cruise/top end but remember it cruising north of 30 and topping out over 40.
 
You know those were my thoughts on the OX66's but Ive "heard" it both ways, some say avg < 1.5mpg, some say >1.5mpg, and the F225's seem to be higher ofcourse, but not by much.

I really loved my experience with the SX200 and with some used prices being 20k less with OX66's vs F225s seems a hard bargin to pass up.

You can buy at a significant savings if you find a boat with the 2 strokes. Savings that you will never burn up with the .1 mpg difference and oil you need to add. That being said, it is easier to sell the 4 stroke version, or at least you get more $ for them. I sold my 2 stroke 282 in less than a week once I put it on the internet sites. One year later I still have inquiries...
 
Any ideas on where to see more boats listed online? Ive been steady on BoatTrader, never been a big fan of boat.com, seems like mostly all dealers/brokers. Ive started searching in craigslist too in various states/cities, not as 282's as I would have thought out there.

Or Im just looking in the wrong places?
