After two and a half years of searching I finally located an owners manual for my Suzuki DT225.
I didn't get one from the prior owner and i wasn't comfortable not having it.
Most of what you find in those manuals is common knowledge to owning, running and caring for outboards but there is usually something unique to that motor or at least new to your book of knowledge.
Having received it today and going through it I read that after sitting 6 months or more I have to check for air in the oil lines and bleed the oil pump. They also recommend that the first tank of the season is a 50:1 premix. Ok then bring on the smoke! Better that than an engine failure. I have to also verify the oil is flowing. There were other tidbits like when over reved for more than 10 seconds  (who'd do that?) well the engine automatically drops to a max of 3000rpms. It is then reset by returning to neutral. Never saw that, doubt I ever will.
