Hi Folks!!

My otherwise near LIKE NEW 1994 - 208 has small rust drips coming<ozzing> from under the stancions where the chrome meets the deck (""stancions""....I think that is what they are called..)

(1) How do I stop the rusty water / stains?
(2) How do I remove the stains already there?

(3) Anybody know>>>Is the bow rail on 94 Grady thru-bolted?? or just big screws

Regards,

Ed

The rust is probably from stainless screws that are getting moisture in the holes. Stainless will rust when wet and isolated from the air. The only fix is to remove the screws, check for excessive moisture and then seal the screws with 4200 or 5200. The holes and screw thread should have decent coating of sealant/adhesive. You can apply sealant also to the underside of the fittings to stop moisture from seeping in.

There are products that will take the rust stains off, most have oxalic acid in them. Any marine supply store should carry a rust remover.
You may have to undo the lower fittings to clean things up or even remove a good portion of the rail
