Any expierence or heard any story's on adding 4 strokes on to a 97. 247 advance?
Main concern is weight vs performance ?
Thank you

Speck: I have no actual experience, so take my comment for the two cents it's worth. Four strokes were the reason why Grady extend the running bottom on the 247/248 and renamed it the 257/258. I suspect that Grady would give you an honest answer if you call them.

What did you end up going with? I have the same hull and looking at repowering from the yamaha 250 ox66 in the near future.

Dig into the specs and brochures on GW website. Twenty years ago in the 2-stroke days, hulls were not as beefy as the motors were lighter. The last thing you want to do is overload the boat from a weight or HP perspective. GW should be able to help with this.

weight is weight, HP is HP(well, as much as HP was ever HP...)
The weight of 4 strokes has come down
Find out the weight you have and get close to it.
Inline 4 cylinder 200s from Yamaha and Suzuki are viable replacements for the old HPDIs and ox66s

Check the specs for your boat over the years, you will see that GW beefed up the transoms when the 4-strokes were introduced. Just make sure you don't over load a 20 year old hull for insurance purposes as well as transom health.
